In my case, the whole trip to Petchaburi was an outing from Cha am, so going to the temple was built in. I did not have to prepare to leave the city and visit some "off the beaten track" spot. Nevertheless, it was quite the surprise: temple guarded by monkeys and situated in a stupefying open-dome cave - some wild rendition of the Magripa temple in Rome. Once insight it is impossible to be left indifferent: the statues, the stalactites, the indirect light, and the funny noises of the fauna. I am sure that this place is unique in its quality of geographical closeness to centers of modern life, (such as Bangkok and Cha am) and spiritual remoteness from these very neighbours.
