  • buddies cafe bar - rayong: Best New Place in Rayong

by paulward Written Feb 2, 2010

Buddies is a small, cosy and chilled out restaurant near Thap Maa in Rayong City.
It's just off the main road and only 1km from the Laemthong shopping centre.

The setting is a garden bar free of hustle and bustle. With so many places to eat in Rayong this is one that has everything from Thai food to Western Steaks and spagetti. With soft chilled out music and classic rock tunes to lend to the ambiennce. English premier league football on the big screen at the weekends.

The Cocktails and cool beers -makes it a great place to relax day or night - maybe just for a drink or a meal when hunger strikes.

There's also aircon restaurant inside. But chilling in the garden bar is best!

Favorite Dish: Chocolate Mousse - Long Island Cocktail - Tenderloin Steaks - Spagetti Carbonara - Rayong and Local Province Dishes.

Old Germany: Best western buffet in town

by DSwede Written Jul 16, 2009

While there are countless local varieties to choose from, time, location and sometimes taste dictate that you revert back to a heartier meal from home.

Old Germany is a favorite for many ex-pats who work in the nearby industrial areas.

The interior motif is decorated in a make-shift German country style way. The waitresses also dress the part with more traditional Fraulein waitress uniforms. However, they do not quite have the body physiques to fill the curves the same way...

After hours, the restaurant is a fairly laid back pub.

Favorite Dish: The breakfast buffet (served Monday ~ Saturday, 11:30am ~ 2:00pm) has about a dozen hot dishes to choose from as well as a small selection of salads and deserts. There are always dishes of potatoes, roasted meats, carrots, sausages, etc. But you will also get the odd Asian entree with some rice or noodles.

At other times, there are menu items to choose from.

Pol cafe: Seafood on the beach

There are several restaurant huts along Rim Phae beach, but this one is probably the bigger and most visitted one. Also the nearest from the hotel/villas (e.g. when you stay in Novotel).

Starting evening until around midnight they put the tables and chairs on the shore lines. Sometimes the waves can reach your feet. I guess that's the uniqueness. You feel the waves while you're eating seafood!

Some of the staffs speaks Swedish, Finnish, or German.

No doubt... being so close to the coast, there are lotsa seafood restaurants around! They have tiger prawns, gigantic lobsters, huge crabs, all sorts of fishes big and small, and something which looks like takatan(grasshopper in thai). You name it, they (should) have it!

pete with da catch of da day!
