going on a Sampram Riverside (formerly rose garden) and elephant ground and zoo tour here in the town of samphram is either included in a half day package or bundled with an early morning damnoen saduak floating market tour and whichever package you chose, the means of transport is either the big tour buses if you are on a big group tour or the smaller private vans if you are on a smaller private tour, the drive from bangkok is about 30 kilometers away and it takes 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours to and from Sampran to bangkok, depending on the traffic situation.

being a cultural show as well, the Sampran Riverside (formerly the rose garden) have displays around the complex of various thai local arts and crafts and even the food and what caught my fancy is the assorted thai teas that are on display here. thai teas are usually made from black tea and is called generally as "cha yen" and there are different variations to it, like regular tea with no fillings, or you add condensed milk and evaporated milk with it, or add milo chocolate drink in it, or add tapioca pears as to make it like a bubble tea. Thai Teas are also made from pandan and ceylonese tea.

Sam Phran Tourist Traps

    souvenir plate 4 more images

by machomikemd Updated Nov 6, 2012

Thailand is notorious for having many tourist traps and one of them is the souvenir plate with you picture embedded in it. you would notice that almost all the touristy areas around thailand sell these porcelain plates or picture frames with you picture in it with the sign and logo of the touristy area or them park that you are going in it too. and here at the Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo is no different as upon entering the park, a photographer instantly shoots your face without your consent and upon leaving the premises, at the exit area, you would see lots of assorted porcelain plates and picture stands with the people visiting the park embossed in it and the prices are expensive as some will charge you 300 baht or 250 baht, in other areas, they charge you 80 to 100 baht for the photo frames or plate.

Unique Suggestions: don't buy these expensive photo frames and photo plate

Fun Alternatives: again don't buy them
