Take trains instead of Airplanes while traveling in Thailand, you can save a bit on expenses, also you'll get time to write, relax & listen to music while the scenery goes by, I took the train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai it’s an A.C. sleeper train this leaves Bangkok at 5:00 p.m. in the evening & arrives at around 7: 00 a.m. next day , it’s a refreshing train journey & I saved on my accommodation. Another train which comes handy for tourist can be Trang to Bangkok. On arriving in Bangkok Airport you can take the tourist airport shuttle buses ( instead of Taxis ) which leave Bangkok airport to 4 zones of Bangkok, depending on which zone you wanna go, this bus stops at all tourist related sites in Bangkok, so its value for money & is a hassle free comfortable journey. If you take taxis make sure that the taxi driver quotes you the total rate for your destination including the toll taxes that has to be paid enroute. Thailand is said to be food lovers paradise, I think its bit exaggerated, certainly for Vegetarians like me, I survived on noodles & rice on my entire trip. For vegetarians, they can rely on salads & rice here, please note that you have to be very crystal clear in your words, just don’t say vegetarian dish also add that “I am a STRICT Vegetarian*” so no meat !! You can shop at departmental store by the name “7” which is present all over Thailand, their chocolate flavoured milk comes highly recommended & is another place for vegetarians ( like me ) to look for vegetarian things to buy. For going from Krabi to Ko Phi Phi Is. The one day tour is very good option, although you can go the same day but if you like ko Phi Phi , you can stay there & get a return ticket extended from the agency without any extra cost, this allows you to have some flexibility in your itinerary. But ask for this flexibility in return ticket with the travel agent before booking/boarding the ship.
Ko Pan Yee - a small village in th middle of the sea bulti entirely on wodden blocks, the sunrise was amazing & is a beautiful small village. A Must see while in Thailand. If you need any more suggestions or tips on Thailand you can email me. I will be glad to be of any help. Leave a Comment

No matter what your perfect holiday involves - you will find it and experience it in Thailand. Whether it be shopping, just chilling by the pool with a cocktail in hand, sampling various dishes, trekking through the jungle, riding an elephant, relaxing on the beach all day, riding a jet-ski, paragliding, partying all night long, sunbaking, reading a book, travelling to distant islands - YOU CAN DO IT ALL HERE! I just loved Thailand - and would go back there tomorrow if I could. I sincerely DO believe there is something there for everyone.
Fondest memories - 1. The weather - I just love 35 degree heat 2. The shopping - anywhere and everywhere buying everything! 3. Siam Safari Elephant Trek - this was magical 4. Day trip to Phi Phi Island - simply beautiful and picturesque 5. The Food - it was all good, fresh, yummy and cheap 6. The people - yes they can sometimes be pushy, but that is their way of life. I found them to be always happy, always smiling and always helpful. Leave a Comment

First up - Thailand is divided into 76 provinces - the transliteration from the Thai is Changwat. Bangkok is one of the 76 provinces and is called Krung Thep (that's the short form of it) in Thai. Each province usually has the same name as the largest city it contains. The next subdivision down is called an Amphoe (district), and you'll see some of these are locations in VT. Provincial cities generally have the same name as the province, while the city centre of a provincial capital city is often called Amphoe Muang. Anything with "Ban" at the front of it (as a separate word, usually) is normally a village (Bangkok is obviously an exception here!). There seem to be lots of these in the database. Note that transliterations from Thai script can vary quite a bit, and VT only lists one version at present. So you'll want to look for Ko Samui (Ko = island), not Koh Samui, which is an alternate spelling. If you've got any questions about Thai geography, it's best to post them in the forum - I'll have a go at answering them if I can, and there are plenty of other people around with good knowledge of Thailand who'll do their best to help, too. Deserted? by yen_2 I know I haven't been able to the South Beaches of the country but wouldn't mind going there(I'm planning) but around the Central Thailand there are also some nice places to hang out like Hua Hin, Pattaya, Chonburi but this place isn't that very nice to compare to the south beaches.
An example pic to the recent beach hopping we had! It's nice though... Leave a Comment

by SLLiew Thailand is the only country in Southeast Asia that was not colonized by a Western power. Malaysia, Singapore, Brune and Myanmar by the English. Philippines by the Spanish and then the Americans. Indonesia by Dutch. East Timor by Portuguese. Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia by the French. As popularized by the movie the "King and I", the modern forward thinking King Mongkut invited western diplomats to his court and maintained a balance of neutrality and independence. Royal princes and scholars were sent to Europe and America for schools. Boromabiman Building is built by King Rama VI - one of the royal buildings constructed under Western influence in the royal grounds. By keeping her doors open to the West, Thailand has kept her independence path in modern history while all her neighbors felled into Western rule.
