money issues for Thailand

by seagypsy

Why not? I still prefer TCs over using ATM cards because you end up paying a hefty premium for ATMs. With TCs, it's only U$1/per TC check regardless of denomination (so it's better to have larger TC notes such as 100s and 50s). There are many banks and exchange places in Thailand so it's pretty easy to exchange TCs, even in the evening in some of the more touristed areas. And I still recommend using a money belt and/or a chest pouch. But bring a CC and/or ATM card as an emergency backup.

Country versus city

by bulldogtwo

I would choose to stay in the area that you are going to, Kanchannaburi and Ayuthaya have some decent hotels, the prices will be better than Bangkok AND, why not enjoy the country versus the city. You will see how much more relaxed it is in the country and I think you'll feel less rushed.Enjoy and have fun

Loi Krathong Festival and Yee Peng in November

by bulldogtwo

If you are going in November, why would you miss Loi Krathong in Chiang Mai?? Why Chiang Mai? because it is probably the best place for the festival and along with that you have the Yee Peng part of it with the rice paper ballons. This is not a festival to be missed if you are in Thailand in Nov, in fact, I would gear the trip around this festival. I would do Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Phuket. You can ride elephants anywhere, the Rose garden just outside of Bangkok for instance. Just a suggestion!!

Thai Beer

by YaaDong

Boon Rawd Brewery is in Pathum Thani province and can be seen from river if you catch Chao Phraya Express boat to Nontaburi. Singha beer is oldest most popular Thai beer in Thailand and abroad.Singha also appears in Thailand in Gold and Draught versions. I don’t like the taste of the brew and only drink the stuff if it is offered to me free or if there is no other choice.Large amount of this stuff will give you the worse "hangover"

one of the nicest beach-places...

by hanspeter_W.

one of the nicest beach-places which you can easily reach by inland-plane is the island of Koh SamuiKoh Samui (เกาะสมุย in Thai language) is the island of the coconut trees and the third largest island in Thailand (Only Phuket and Koh Chang are larger by size). The total area is about 247 km² and it is located in the Gulf of Thailand, 700 km South of Bangkok in the Surat Thani province. nice accommodation on the island is : Paradise Beach Resort

Andaman coast

by bulldogtwo

Phil and Gina,You will get a visa stamp upon arrival so no problem there. I would suggest the Andaman coast, in our opinion it is one of the best places for Thai beaches, you can check out my homepage as well. You can get party or just plain relaxing time on the beach, when that gets old,(does it?) you can head in-land to some really nice national parks, and there are many along this coast as well as marine parks that are often virtually deserted, you can have beaches all to yourselves most of the time, and if not it definitly won't be crowded.http://www.thaiforestbooking.com/np_home.asp?npid=43&lg=2 Good web sit here for national parks and map to locate them should you decide to stay along the coast, or anywhere in Thailand for that matter. You wont have much more time than that, you'll find that 6 days is just a teaser.Good luck and have fun!

Wellness centers Thailand

by bulldogtwo

Sorry but I have not done this myself. But, there are many who do go to Thailand to take advantage of this and there are detox spas all over Thailand, many are pretty spendy though. Hope this helps.http://www.atmanjai.com/http://www.wellness-thailand.com/http://www.ayutthayagardenriverhome.com/iscripts/cmview.php?doc=htx/eng/g0001/U0001/home.htxhttp://www.triaintegrativewellness.com/http://detox-chiangmai.com/Good luck

Andaman coast

by bulldogtwo

If you are looking for "real Thai culture" in a villiage you should understand that the hill tribe people are, for the most part, not Thai. Many or most are refugees from Burma, China and Laos. Some may have been in Thailand for some time but they are not ethnic Thai.As I stated before, you can get into some real quiet areas along the Andaman coast and see some local Thai towns and villages, as long as you don't have visions of overt poverty and muddy roads leading into villages. Not to say that you can't find them in the rural provinces all over Thailand, you can. The coast has the small towns and rural feel and some world class beaches without the big crowds.

Andaman Coast

by bulldogtwo

If you are not going to go to cambodia and you are in Phang nga, then I would head to Phang Nga on the Andaman side, north of Phuket. I also do not know what yo are looking to do. Since you are planning on going to a full moon party I assume that you are younger and like to party a little at least. The andaman coast is very beautiful, great beaches and pretty paid back. In my opinion not a party place, which is why we like it. The area has quaint small towns, very tranquil and relaxing. One of our favorite places is Khao Lak and Khao Sok Nat. Park is reachable and a great attraction and chnage from the beach scene for a day or two.Have Fun and good luck

Thailand - Land of Beauty and Diversity

No matter what your perfect holiday involves - you will find it and experience it in Thailand.Whether it be shopping, just chilling by the pool with a cocktail in hand, sampling various dishes, trekking through the jungle, riding an elephant, relaxing on the beach all day, riding a jet-ski, paragliding, partying all night long, sunbaking, reading a book, travelling to distant islands - YOU CAN DO IT ALL HERE!I just loved Thailand - and would go back there tomorrow if I could. I sincerely DO believe there is something there for everyone. Fondest memories -1. The weather - I just love 35 degree heat2. The shopping - anywhere and everywhere buying everything!3. Siam Safari Elephant Trek - this was magical4. Day trip to Phi Phi Island - simply beautiful and picturesque5. The Food - it was all good, fresh, yummy and cheap6. The people - yes they can sometimes be pushy, but that is their way...
