This is the beach from the motion picture. You should visit it. You can rent a longtailboat or speedboat.

on maya bay

There are many tour agencies with huge vessels going round Koh Phi Phi Ley to drop off snorkellers and divers... more laidback would be to find a longtail boat from Tonsai Village on Koh Phi Phi Don and negotiate with the boatman to take you round Koh Phi Phi Ley for an afternoon or the whole day depending on your time... we had a really good boatman called Chet from the resort where we stayed and could negotiate a cheaper price with him from Tonsai Village then by going through the resort itself

is that virginie ledoyen!

This is the infamous Maya Bay which is attracting tourists in droves now as made famous in the movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio. To be fair, it is a very nice stretch of beach on Maya Bay... but there are small hassles like rangers which go around and ask for a small fee (okay it's only 2 Baht or 20 Baht, no biggie).

Unique Suggestions: You're not missing anything if you just pass by to have a look without getting off the boat.

Fun Alternatives: Check out the lagoons and hidden beaches around it instead... less crowded and free :)

crystal clear waters

Most people would go to see Maya Bay which is the set of the movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio & Virginie Ledoyen and have a swim or snorkel there... however, just in the next lagoons there are better spots where if you see dive boats dropping off divers, would be a better spot for you to go snorkelling in the shallower depths... the water in this little bay we found during low tide was only knee-deep but we saw 3 reef sharks swimming around by the sides looking for food at about 4 p.m.!

Favorite thing: When you come to Ko Phi Phi Le island, first thing you see is palm trees and wonderful hot sand beaches with palm trees growing above water. In Ko Phi Phi Le island you will relax yourself on the way you could only dream of in USA or somewhere else. It really is paradise, but not spoiled by tourists: It is undiscovered and quiet. You can have beach just for yourself if you want. When you lie down on the smooth sand all you have to do is to close your eyes and listen to the beautiful sounds of nature!!! What a wonderful feeling! WELCOME TO PARADISE!

Fondest memory: I miss the beautiful sand beaches, palm trees above the water and beautiful nature that only Ko Phi Phi Le can offer!!!
