    Graceland Coffe Shop: An alternative

by carmenlilly Updated Apr 4, 2011

    The hotel band

The Graceland Coffee Shop is a restaurant at the Charoen Thani Princess Hotel. It's located on the lobby level.
You can get Thai, Chinese and International food. There's also a bakery with loads of cakes.
The restaurant is quite fancy compared to others, The staff has a neat uniform and they're very kind and friendly.
The food is delicous and in case you have to spend (like I did) a month there it's nice to get some international food for a difference.
There'S a hotel band playing every night, which is fun to watch and listen to.
They have delicous margaritas there too !!!!
I always had coffee there around noon, there's not much going on at that time, so that was very nice too.

    Lighthouse: Hang with the locals

by carmenlilly Updated Nov 15, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Entering the Lighthouse

Lighthouse is a little restaurant located nearby the Charoen Thani Princess Hotel. Many locals go there and eat. It offers a variety of Thai food - big portions.
The menu is quite long, unfortunatly only a little is translated into English.
Also the staff doesn't speak any or hardly any English, but if you use your hands and toes it works just fine.
Depending on how often you go there you can also get cocktails.

Favorite Dish: I don't know what it was I ordered - some kind of noodels, but be aware not hot or normal with Thai food does not mean that it'S not HOT for foreigners!!!
Thais eat a lot spicier than any country in Europe !!!

    The Sorrento: Good Food

    by Bobbee5 Updated Sep 26, 2005
    Evening entertainment at the Sorrento

I have eaten at this restaurant on many occassions. They serve local, western and some japenese dishes, the menus are in English and Thai. You have a choice of where to eat either inside with the A/c or outside on the patio area. Here one can sit and people watch and enjoy a few leisurely beers. The food is well presented and the staff are very attentive. In the evenings it does tend to get busy as they normally have a band playing western and Thai music. My Thai girlfriend who is very particular about food says it is very good, and have seen many locals here for dinner. I have no favorite dish from here as I tend to try differant meals on each visit.

  • Khrua Funan: Probably the Nicest Staff in Khon Kaen

    by Daniel_Stokes Written Oct 12, 2004

Khrua Funan features mellow live music(sometimes performed by Pong, the owner), and excellent Thai and Northeastern food in a funky, homey atmosphere. It's a little out of the way, off by the train station, but it's a nice place. It's owned by the same couple that run the always-popular Funan nightclub, on Th. Srichan across the street from Top West.

    English menus available.

And it's pretty cheap, but it's hard to find an expensive meal in Khon Kaen apart from the Hotel Sofitel.

Favorite Dish: They make a mean sai krok yaang (grilled northeastern sausage).
