    Bus to Nakhon Ratchasima

On the bus to Nakhon Ratchasima

Take 3 hours from Mochit Bus Terminal in Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima.

There are 2 bus companies, I always travel by bus of Korat Pattana Co. At Nakhon Ratchasima, there are 2 bus terminals, small one in the city and another one is new bus terminal outside central of the city, mostly for transfer to other places. So in each company ticket counter in Bangkok, there are 2 counters sell the ticket for the bus go to different bus terminal in Korat. (better tell them which terminal in Korat you'd like to go before you buy a ticket). Reservation not availiable, there's a lot of buses go to Korat (every 15-20 min).

    Around the City

    Tuk Tuk and Sam Lor

In central of the city you can travel around by taxi (Tuk Tuk) and Sam Lor (bike with three wheels). They park mostly in central of the town, not seen much outside the city, some park at bus terminals. About the price, you can negociate (normally in the city is around 60-200 B).

You can travel by local bus also, within the city and go further outside, there are many bus routes.

My idea, If you intend to explore around central of the city, the best way is just by walking. If you want to see the more the city roughly, you maybe take Sam Lor, nice and slow !

Tuk Tuk is just for place to place and a bit too expensive for me and I hate bargaining with the driver.

The local bus is also nice but there are more than 10 routes and some of them branch out from central so I think it's a hard way for visitors.

Drive by yourself is also a good option!

In Korat City, there are 2 railway stations.

    - The main one is Nakhon Ratchasima Railway Station. It's the one you will reach first if you travel from Bangkok, about 1 km. from central of the town.

    - Another station is in central of the town name Chi Ra Station, it is also a terminal centre.

Travel to Nakhon Ratchasima by train usually take about 6 hours but you can take shorter time travelling by special express train (sprinter) for around 4 hours. The trains leave from Bangkok Railway Station 7 times daily and the sprinter, fast train (train no.21) leave in the early morning about 5.45 am and arrive in Nakhon Ratchasima about 10.15 am

There 're 2 Bus Terminals in Khorat. The first one located in town called "Bor Kor Sor Kao" or old Bus Terminal and the second one located outside town called "Bor Kor Sor Mai" or New Bus Terminal and bigger than the first. Almost companies 're in the second one and it's the center for transferring to other districts in Khorat or other provinces.

Another public transportation in fast way,I used to hire from Bus Terminal to city center. The price was 60 THB.And in a short distance,it's about 30 THB. If compare to distance, this price is expensive but convenience if you come with big luggage.

There 're some companies run public bus from BKK to Khorat. 2 most popular 're Air Khorat and Rachasima Tour. Both companies, you can choose the standard of bus which the high range is Standard Air-con 1. The price is about 212 THB with beverage, snacks along the trip. For me,I choose Air Khorat, coz the seats 're more comfortable.

Bus from Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima

    by pres_16 Updated Mar 19, 2012

From Mochit Bus Terminal in Bangkok is a comfortable bus to Korat. Go to upper floor (don't remember now) of the terminal building to buy the ticket.Travel time is about 3 hrs, the bus maintains a low speed. If you are not staying long in Korat, take the early bus to get to the city at least before noon. You will have time to explore the city other than Phimai. Bus fare is 198 Baht as of August 2011.

  • Bus from Vientiane to Nakhon Ratchasima

    Vientiane Khua Din bus station

It's possible to take a bus crossing the border between Lao and Thailand. You can take the 9am bus in Vientiane Khua Din bus station which is next to the morning market/Talat Sao shopping mall.

It's a comfortable and safe bus. The bus ride takes around 7.5 hours with several toilet and lunch breaks. Bus fare in 2012's August: 86000kip (around US$10.5)

If you want to go to Cambodia from there, you can then take the bus to Aranya Prathet at No.26. It costs 210 baht and takes around 4.5 hours, bus departs at 06:30, 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:30.

Then a US$2 tuktuk ride from Aranya Prathet to the border (Poipet). Share a taxi (4 pax) from Poipet to Siem Reap costs US$ 12 and takes around 2.5 hours. The staff there may try to convince you but don't exchange your money as the rates in Siem Reap are much better.

    Bus to Cambodia

by Willettsworld Written Dec 20, 2009

It's possible to take a bus from Khorat to the Cambodian border at Aranya Prathet. Buses depart at 06:30, 09:00, 11:00. 13:00. 15:00 and 17:30 and cost 205 baht. There's a map on the wall beside where the bus departs (at No.26) which shows the route and place names in English. The route is rather zigzag like and seems to go around the houses a bit but I took the 9am bus and got to the border at 1.30pm. You can then walk from where the bus drops you off to the border.

    Bus to Phimai

by Willettsworld Written Dec 20, 2009

Phimai is easy to get to by taking a bus from the terminal 2 bus station, to the north of Khorat city centre. It takes about an hour and costs around 50 baht. Buses depart every 30 minutes between 5am and 7pm. There is no direct route to Phimai outside of Khorat and all onward travel requires that you first get back to Khorat and proceed from there.
