    Night Market: Nightlife at Khonkaen

    by yingThai001 Updated Apr 4, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The city of Khon Kaen has a very entertaining night life. People of Khon Kaen are welcoming tourists, but please behave in a good manner. Right now the tourists still have a good reputation in Khon Kaen, we hope you will contribute in keeping it like this. Don't forget that Khon Kaen is not a city same as Pattaya, Phuket, or Bangkok. If you want to find a woman for only one night, Khon Kaen is NOT the city to stay. If you are looking for a serious relationship or you just want to have a good time with your friends (or alone), please come to Khon Kaen. Some of the visitors will have a very good chance of finding their future life partner.

At night after about 18.00 hrs the nicest place to be is the Night Market. At this time Khon Kaen has closed down one street for traffic and on one side of the street you find many food stalls and on the other side of the street you find vendors of clothes, mobile telephone accessories or dvd's. Food is cheap and delicious. It is very nice to walk up and down the market and find a seat to have some meal and watch the people walk by. The market is open untill late in the night, but the later it is, the lesser stalls are open.

    Johnnie's Bar: Thai entertainment

by pipercherokee Written Nov 19, 2003

Johnnie (a 35 year old Thai woman) runs Johnnie's bar on the beach on Ko Samet. If you're travelling by yourself and you want a Thai person to talk to (Thai people don't speak English but seem to understand it) Johnnie is the one. "We drink and smoke a lot. *** off. I don't care. I do what I want" is probably what you'll hear coming out of Johnnie's mouth. She's definite entertainment and will kick your ass at Jenga. She's a good business woman and it's fun to examine her tactics to get you to drink more. You might even find yourself in the midst of a drunken soccer game by the water as locals whip their fire sticks around in the background. For the most part Ko Samet is laid back and peaceful but you can always find entertaining travellers at bars on the beach like Johnnie's. Walk 1 minute further and you can slump into a beach chair and listen to the waves crash.
