The owner, Joy, is well travelled and speaks excellent English.
Every day she personally selects the freshest ingredients from the local Morning Market.
Slow Cooking for taste, vitamins and no baddies: Joy does not own nor believe in Bay Marie. Every course is cooked while you wait.
Her cooking is sought out by the local business owners who constitute about 70% of her custom.
The taste of her food was only beaten by her wit, warmth & charm. Her hearty laugh is shared with Locals and Tourists alike.
Favorite Dish: The Thai Menu is more extensive than the English one but Joy will make anything you desire as long as she has the ingredients. She often has special requests, made the day before so she obtains the ingredients at the market.

This tiny cafe is located beside the western entrance into the covered market. I actually had roast pork with some nice sauce, boiled potatoes and brussels (which I hadn't seen in any markets in Thailand, so I guess they were frozen!). Anyway, it was a bit of a surprise as are other western dishes such as weiner-schnitzel, fish and chips, lasagne, tuna salad and smoked salmon.

You can choose to dine here at this Floating Restaurant or order your meal in advance before you take your cruise so they can prepare & serve it on board the boat. This way you can enjoy your meal & the cruise at the same time. If you don’t wish to take the cruise, you can just sit, relax & enjoy your meal here at Nagarina.
Favorite Dish: Fried Morning Glory

We came in the evening & lounged around with our friend. We had Tofu delight, fried veggie, some rice, fish & chip, ice tea & Lao's coffee for a reasonable price. The food is ok though not so great.
Favorite Dish: Nothing Special But Tofu Delight Is Quite OK!

We find it so hard to get 'Halal' Muslim food in Nong Kai. Our diet consists of mainly bread, sweet potatoes & fruits for the first day.
We're lucky to find the one & only Muslim food in Nong Kai the next day. The place is quite a distance but accessible by the 'skycab'(tuk-tuk) Hopefully there'll more of it in Nong Khai soon!
Favorite Dish: It's Halal!...Nothing Special

The boat is anchored at the bank of the Mekong River... Do not know the name of the restaurant... Food is prepared on shore and served before the boat leaves on the cruise down the river...
Local food is served... and the pricing is reasonable... Passenger can also come for the cruise but not for dinner... just order drinks, but i do not know how much they charge for the cruise only, without dinner...
Favorite Dish: The steam local fish is good... fish is from the Mekong River again...

Address: The restaurant is on the boat on the Mekong River
The tables are set on a wooden platform by the bank of the Mekong River... The place is where locals go for food, and hence the pricing is reasonable... The view of the Mekong River is superb and it is windy and cool... no air-conditioning required...
We were there for lunch...
Favorite Dish: The barbequed fish and prawns are fresh and good... they are locally catched... maybe from the Mekong River itself...hehe... The famous local fried glass noodle is not so good... like many Thai dishes, they are a bit too sweet...
