 | Udon Thani Restaurants | Tips 1 - 3 of 3 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (3) This was the first time I ate anything close to real Italian food in Thailand, really gets top marks for food quality. Has two parts to the restaurant, a very smart and plush dining area and also a ranch style half that has wooden tables and serves steaks and the like. It also features a Deli counter where you can peurchase many of the ingredients they use all imported from Italy. They make their own pasta and pizza and have a proper pizza oven on display, lastly the whole kitchen area is visible behind glass and is spotless. Really a great boon for Udon Thani residents and visitors. Prices are very reasonable and certainly no more than any other Italian restaurant I have eaten in Thailand.
Im going to say Pizza because they are perfect, thin crispy with huge toppings, but The lasgne is also superb melt in your mouth style, I have not tried anything from the steak bar. I live in Udon Thani and I like to visit Kitaro japanese restaurant atleast once a week because it's cheap and tasty food. Located centrally, accross the road from the main shopping centre, it makes a change from Thai food every day. They have set meals with a variety of small little dishes which are nicely displayed and very tempting, and there are many other foods on the menu to try which are all very cheap. The decor is very authentic and the Thai owners are very nice and friendly.
My favourite dish is Teriaka chicken set meal. It comes with salad, rice, soup and spicy pickle and is only 80bt. If you're keen to try eating various insects in a congenial atmosphere, head to the Lum Udom Night Market. A large section of this market is devoted to food and a couple of stalls specialize in insects. Grubs, crickets, grasshoppers, scorpions and a few others. You can have them fried or cooked in coals. I opted out (yes, chicken of me I know). Basically you choose your insect, indicate how you want it prepared (you get more than one of course) and then select the sauce. All very fast and will set you back 10 baht. These stalls are open until 1am.
