sang buddha gautama (c) ukirsari

the glittering temple in lanna architecture accentuation is something not to be missed whenever visiting wat doi suthep. and amongst of them, i feel so surprise to see buddha sakyamuni statue next to the tallest chedi of doi suthep. even covering by gold, this buddha still represent himself as someone who is very kind, humble and helpful persona.
this statue has a story .... about preparation of a prince siddharta gautama become ordinary person. with leave daily noble and royal life behind and have a brand new life as a monk, this is really something called sacrifice.
i tell sang buddha history to my friends maria and paula and they're so surprised and enjoy. they're say [sigh] ... i am a great story teller and i reply, well ... since i am an asian, i think know about asian's histories, religions and cultures is something a must :)

wat phrathat doi suthep rajvoravihara or wat doi suthep in short, is the ultimate tourist spot in doi suthep. said that king kuena was riding an elephant whenever find this place. but from now on, this temple became something very glittering with additional man-made, for example several chedi around the peak.
and this place also a viewpoint to see a scenery overlooking chiangmai city.

well, doi suthep close before dark, so i join with two german ladies --who became my friends ever since we'd shared tuk tuk to doi suthep-- to explore nightlife in downtown of chiangmai. our fave goes to ladies night market, situated nearby amari gate, one of the old walls within the city. then also watching art performance [dancing] in the food corners nearby the night market.

a road signage in chiangmai (c) ukirsari

there's a red tuk tuk [public transport and can be said as "shared taxi"] to take you to doi suthep. from my place [yha chiangmai srivichai], just walk about hundred metres to direction chiangmai zoo and can be seen red tuk tuk parked on the main road. they have exact price to take you there to the temple: bht40 up and bht30 down per person and a tuk tuk can be used for 10 passengers. but can be more expensive if you take the tuk tuk by your own.
