Way U Mong is located about ten minutes out of the main party of Chiang Mai but alot people miss going to this temple. The temple is located in the jungle and you immediatley notice the change in temperature. The temple is very unique and has a number of tunnels underground leading to small bhudda shrines. It is really interesting. There is also a large Chedi in the grounds which are spread out and nice to walk around. Worth visiting and taking the time to walk around and find different parts to the temple. Also has a small lake area as well.

wat u-mong in the forest...

Wat U-mong is located off Suthep Road, bordering Chiangmai University... Located in a grove, it is a practicing meditation centre... The temple ground is cool as it is within a forest settling with many trees...

From the main entrance, one will enter tunnels to the meditation cells and a venerated Budhha image... It is for this reason that it is also called the Tunnel Temple... The bell shaped chedi is on a higher platform reachable by climbing a staircase...
