Antique house has two locations within Chiang Mai one a short walk from Night Bazaar and the second on the Ping River. The Restaurant near the Night Bazaar is in a traditional Thai House and has a nice garden area. It is all Thai food here and it is not only authentic but delicious.
Favorite Dish:
So many local dishes I have not tried before. I will stick with the Curries.
Set in a classic 100+ year old Thai teak house, this place is a real Thai experience. You can choose to sit out in the treed courtyard or the indoors. We wanted to sit in the house where each we could have our own room in the very open wooden home. Meals are eaten on the floor at a low table while an overhead fan slowly turns. The Antique House is highly recommended. It is lovely - a classic Thai dining experience. The food here is fantastic as well.
Favorite Dish:
Anything you order will be very good at the Antique House. We are definitely going back.
This is a delightful restaurant if you want a little peace and quiet away from the hustle bustle of central Chiang Mai and its buzzy nightlife. Although only 5mins walk from the night market, whilst sitting in the lovely gardens of this antique teak house you could be many miles away. Just a hop away from the River Ping, I can highly recommend this restaurant for both its food and decor. With very low tables and chairs(not so good for the less agile) set in a beautifully designed Thai garden, the food is almost secondary, but none the less, delicious. Charming staff altho a little slow, but who cares when sitting in amazing surroundings, and an excellent menu.
Favorite Dish:
Its got to be the crab curry.
I have been to this restaurant twice. Located near the night market and the Ping river. Great thai food-lots of curries, lop and other dishes.
Restaurant has a nice garden area. The highlight being an antique teak house. In the evenings-there is a guitarist/singer in the garden.
You can get Mango sticky rice in a restaurant or from many of the stall in Tapae Sunday Market. It is relatively inexpensive. It can be bought from the Tapae Sunday Market at 20B.
