Food: Thai and Western. Very, very good and inexpensive
Ambience: Relaxed, chilled, no-hassle, no bar girls, great sports on TV, great music
Surroundings: Thai, Japanese, American elclectic mix. Lots of cool shade from plants
Atmosphere: Friendly, Great place for Families, Tourists, Locals, Everyone!
Drinks: A wide selection and amazingly cheap
Special: Yeah - a place to experience at least once, and if you are lucky - elephants visit in the evening.

Favorite Dish: Favourite Dish: There are so many good ones here, both Western and Thai, but I think my personal favourite is the Spicy Papaya Salad - so very very good. Combined with sundried pork or beef, it makes a really great meal. I haven't had a bad meal here, and I've eaten quite a few. The menu is very easy to order from with really great photographs of each dish. You won't be disappointed!

The Gekko Garden Pub was our favorite place to eat in Chiang Mai.

It is Thai owned, the food is so cheap and delicious, and the huge chunky teak furniture is just beautiful.

Another bonus is the happy friendly staff.

The pub is surrounded by greenery, lush plants and water ponds.
From the outside it does not look much but inside its a welcome oasis.

Gekko Garden Pub & Restaurant is on the corner of Sri Donchai Rd and Kamphang Rd - nearly opposite the Imperial Maeping Hotel.

Some of the meals and prices we paid are:

3 x large Changs 119baht
1. Kai Jiew Moo Sap – Fried omelets with minced pork – 39baht
2. En TaiTod – Fried chicken – 49baht
3. Pad Thai Gung – shrimp – 49baht
4.Kung Chup Pang Tod –spicy deep fried shrimp cakes -69baht
5.Som Ta – green papaya salad – 49baht
6. Kung Chup Pang Tod – deep fried shrimp – 69baht

Total for food, 5 spirit drinks and 2 large tigers – 940baht

Moo Tod Kra Teem Prik Thai – stir fried pork with garlic&pepper – 39baht
Pad Thai – stir fried noodles & bean sprouts – 39baht
Tod Mun Pla Kuy –spicy deep fried fish cakes – 59baht
Moo Geeko – spareribs – 69baht.

Cocktails are very cheap as well - Pina Colada – 80baht or a jug 199baht!!

The Menu is both Thai and Western and the Chef will amaze you with his tasty creations that cost so little, you’ll be able to afford a feast! It was fresh, fast and delicious. We ate tons of food here for a really low price.

All drinks are very cheap! The beer is such a good deal that it is almost the same cost as in the local Supermarket. Happy hour is 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm every night when you can buy Vodka, Gin or Rum with any mix for just 40 bahts for a decent-sized glass. Served with a tropical flower, they are attractive and tasty. Try the Daiquiris, Pina Coladas or Margaritas which are also very cheap. If alcohol is not your thing, try a soft drink or ask for a young fresh coconut – they are delicious. The coffee is good too! There is something for everyone here. And.. no bar girls so you can take the kids in here to eat too!

Favorite Dish: The Fried Pork with Lemon Grass was tasty and not too spicy. The grated, deep fried lemon grass was different to other dishes elsewhere. I loved most of the menu, It is hard to pick just one item. Try sun-dried pork, fried squid or shrimps and their steaks and burgers if you don't like spicy stuff. If you like chilis and pepper, there are plenty of good dishes like Pad Thai Whoose - a sort of rice noodle with sweet sauce and lots of veggies and pork or chicken. Try the roast pork salad - it is very spicy and good and comes with a plate of green salad. Nothing costs more than 70 baht and many cost only 39 baht. Two dishes for one person will leave you stuffed to the gills.

The atmosphere at Gekko Garden is a bit of Old World Charm mixed with an American Touch.
