Chiang Mai Hard Rock Cafe: Music, food, and drink

by SumTingWong Updated Jun 19, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Yes, Chiang Mai does have a Hard Rock Cafe. Here you can enjoy a mixture of Thai, Chinese, and American rock! They have a broad menu with Thai and American food. You can go for lunch or have some fun there at night. The drinks and food are cheap and pretty good! So if you are into Hard Rock Cafes, this is the place to go.

anywhere - street - local village - homestay: The more exotic Thai food

by SumTingWong Updated Jun 19, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In Thailand you must eat some more Thai Thai people food. These include of course chicken satay but also include frog, called "gohp" and squirrel, called "raht". These foods are snacks and can be bought for fewer than 20 Baht from a street vender. They are well worth trying. Other things you may want to shoot for are: monkey (trekking), cricket, pig head, chicken feet.... and NO we DON'T EAT DOG.

Cabbages & Condoms by PDA: Our food is guaranteed not to cause pregnancy

by suraphona Updated Mar 11, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Residents of Chiang Rai, Bangkok, Pattaya, and Korat are already familiar with this restaurant that is operated by
the Population & Community Development Association of Thailand.
Though Chiang Mai itself does not have a branch as yet, residents and visitors can check it out by taking a ride to the "Rubber Triangle" at Wiang Pa Pao, about half-way between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
Here they will find a welcoming restaurant and an attractive resort with various types of accommodation in "Condom Cottages" wuth attractive rooms with fan and bathroom for only B290 a night , condoms included.
    , a shop selling handicraft products, a mini-mart and a coffee corner.
Its location makes it an ideal stopover between the two main cities of the North

The Population & Community Development Association (PDA) is an organization dedicated to serving Thailand’s rural poor, and its chairman is Meechai Viravaidya, Bangkok's Senator as known for his campaign to encourage the use of prophylactics in the fight against the spread of AIDS.
Thus the condom has become the symbol of the restaurant and drivers along the road near the restaurant will see many billboards with pictures of condoms with smiling faces.

The restaurant's motto is "Our food is guaranteed not to cause pregnancy".

Favorite Dish: Chickenbreast wrapped in pandanus leaf ,
    Tom Yam Gung,
    Pla Chon Daed Deo.
    Cabbages & Condoms Chiang Mai
    is open daily from 7am - 10pm.

    red lantern (?): thai/chinese food

    by call_me_rhia Written Nov 18, 2002

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The first thing that got me about this restaurant was thearchitecture: an old wooden house on two floors, with plenty of bright red chinese (?) lanterns. I like the cheerful decor and decided I would have dinner there

Favorite Dish: The food was ok, I'm generally not to fond of chinese food anyway. But once entree, some chicked bits wrapped in leafs and cooked on coals, where truly something else. I dont remember their names, though

it's a tiny modern little restaurant that served both thai and internation fool. It's a bit fancy with its wonderful air-con system and modern furniture - but it's also nice to eat without sweating for once. Sadly it'sa non-smoking place

Favorite Dish: I had a delicious bowl of chicken and coconut milk soup, and a hybiscus tea decorated with a real hybiscus flower. delicious! then I spoiled it all by ordering a very westenernized chocolate and peanut cake - not good!
