Whitewater rafting on the Maetang river in Chiang Mai is something for everyone to try. The river has a rapid grade of 2 - 4 on a scale of 1 - 6. Sounds scary, but it's actually not that bad. You just have to mind the cold water, the hot sun and the unpredictable flow of the river.
Helmets and life jackets should be provided by the tour agency organising this trip, please check that they do! Instructions will be given on land before getting on the river. It's good for one to remember the commands that the captain will give when on the river, as this activity requires team effort to ensure everyone's safety. Do check with the tour operators as to how long the entire journey would take. It takes 3 hours just to get to the Maetang river from town and the journey downriver takes another 2.5 to 3 hours. Don't be put off by tour operators that charge a little higher than others, as these operators will often provide a safety crew to monitor your journey from the banks of the river(and take photos for a fee). Lunch is also provided. Wear long-sleeved t-shirt to protect yourself from the sun and sports sandals.

Tandem Bungy! by Silvereye This was the last place I expected to find a bungy jump centre but there it was! Where else can you bungy jump in the jungle.....so give it a try. If your not game enough its free to watch others take the plunge or just browse through the very interesting bungy pics of previous jumpers from all nations.....dressed and undressed ;).....curious?!? go down and have a look......they can also pic you up from where you are staying and take you back after your jump. It was 1400baht for a jump which includes a t-shirt and a roll of film with your bungy pics............well worth it ;) BUNGY!!!!!!!!!!!!! By bro. and a bunch of his friends after a game by SumTingWong Go on and try out your skills with some of the local children. If you are in a smaller town and see a bunch of kids playing, just ask them and they'll be more than happy to invite you to play. The 9-12 year old group was at my playing level lol. It's a lot of fun and you'll remember it forever. And if you really want to be popular buy all the kids ice cream after the game (2 Baht for a popsicle - what a great deal).

After a couple of days of trekking, you probably are interested in some relaxing. Since we're in the upper north of Thailand, there's no sea nearby.. BUT there are some nice swimmingpools in Chiang Mai. I can recommend you the Sarah Health Club. Open from 10.00 untill 20.00 hours. It's across the British consulate. Outside the center. White-water rafting was such great fun! Pity we didn't get any photos cause we were rushing to go rafting! Totally no real effort needed just go with the flow! Relax and the river will sail you along! We were having mini water fights with the people from the other rafts and got splashed at pretty badly! :P Leave a Comment Theme: Rafting

by dimanche It was quite exhilarating going down the slopes at top speed with the cool wind blowing in your face. Not to mention the beautiful scenery of the mountains and villages you'll get to take in along the way! You also learn some mountain biking techniques which will allow better control and that way, you'll get to enjoy more and be less caught up in trying to manoeveur the bike!
