    Butterfly and Orchid Farm

Part of our tour package, we were brought to the butterfly and Orchid Farm. Nothing much for the butterfly side, only spotted 1 caterpillar :( The orchid farm, at the same area was better. Smell the frangrance of the orchid flowers...

Orchid is symbol of Thailand and Thai airlines.
Thai Orchid's original technique came from Taiwan, but Thai people make it successful and has developed their own characters. Beautiful, colorful and tropical.

Orchid garden has souvenior shop where you can buy real orchid made pin, ear-rings, drop, chain and T-Shirts. It's good choice for flower lovers.

Visitors can view these exotic year-round blooms. Dozens of varieties of orchids are nurtured under netting. One can buy seedlings with full instruction for their care. Especially popular are the fresh orchids dipped in gold and crafted into earrings, brooches & pendants.

There is also a special butterfly enclosure where tropical species can be seen in natural environment.

Unless you are obsessed with either there is no point in going here.

Luckily we were just passing through on our elephant trek excursion. We couldn't stay here more than 5 minutes. I did not see 1 butterfly different than the usual and the orchids were nice but all the same.

There was an introduction on orchids lasting about 2-3 minutes then you can go do whatever you want. My advice is get a couple of photos and jump back in the van as we did. Much better things to do in Chiang Mai.

Orchid and Butterfly Farm is located in Mae Rim District on the route Mae Rim-Samoeng. Visitors can enjoy exotic year-round blooms. The farm also have special butterfly enclosures where tropical species can be seen in a natural environment but visitors should checkup the better time for season of blooms and butterfly.

This was basically a nursery where they planted and did research on the different species of orchids. It could be a good short stop-over for people who like plants and flowers, orchids especially.
