a fast boat on the mekong

There are - officially at least - fast boats and slow boats trips around the Golden Triagnle area. Fast boats "fly" on the river at 50 miles per hour... it doesn't seem to fast but the noise is deafening and accidents are not the exception. They are quite expensive, too. On the other hand, the rumoured "safer" slow boats were nowhere to be found.. or better, there were some, but they were not running. My suggestion is: considering the poor safety record of fast boats, pass on the Golden Triangle river trip... you don't really need to do it.

A ditch

There are places all over Asia where streets are not very good conditions and street lights are far apart . Suddenly there might be these kind of deep ditches. So watch where you step !
