When travel to Mae Sai town bordering with Tachilek, Burma, you might get some people approach you with some catalogue of guns for sale. I would suggest you not to even give any interest in looking at the catalogue as the driver told us that undercover police are everywhere to nab you and the seller.
And try to avoid the Thai Train, I don't know was it just because of that train but it took me 23hrs from Hatyai to Bangkok. Take the bus...!!!!unless you are able to get a sleeping berth. Leave a Comment

If at all possible, I wouldn't take any valuables (like a nice watch or expensive camera) into Tachileik. While the people were all very friendly towards me, it certainly felt much more third world than Thailand, and I doubt there is much protection for tourists who are assaulted and/or robbed. Not that I heard of this ever happening while I was there, just a simple observation.
