My prefered temple in Nan. Outside is nothing special but you have to go inside to see wonderful Budda statue and, best of all, interesting and humoristic wall paintings. I recommned this visit, most interesting thing to do in Nan.

A temple for local villagers in Pakha sub-district ,Tha Wang Pha district. About 42 kms on the North of Nan city.
History : According to the oral tradition, this temple was built in 1862 during the King Rama IV reign, by Sunanta (temple abbot).
The assembly hall at this temple is in a typical Lanna style. The roof ,divided into many parts, droops down, much lower than halls in Central Thailand.
Inside ,there’re mural paintings depicted scences from the Chanthakhat Jataka and the Canto in 15 scences (normally 17 scences).

History : this temple was built in 1596 ,by Chao Chetabutr Phrohmin ,the ruler of Nan.
As a Wat Luang or royal temple .This temple is different from the rest of others temples in Thailand. The ordination and assembly halls are put together in one building which in cross shaped plan. The building has square center and four projections at cardinal points. And Naga balustrades are made along the stops leading to the doors, which is typical for Buddhist hall in the Northern Thailand.
Inside , at the center of the halls is a square chedi. On each 4 sides of chedi houses four identical Buddha images facing out ,seated back to back in gesture of enlightenment.
On each walls have a mural painting which mainly depicted about Khantha Kumara Jataka and Nimi Jataka, from the lifestory of the Buddha. The murals of this temple are masterful and represented a lifestyle of Lanna people at that time very well.
Others interesting things ,such as monk’s seat in the hall. Its general shape and decorations are of typical Lanna.
