Thai people keep the chickens under a bamboo basket.
The chickens can eat everything that lies beneath them,the basket gives shadow allows air to pass.
Nice environmental friendly way to keep poultry.

Pai has a muslim community .
I found it very strange to find them over there.
At several times a day you'll hear the speakers calling to pray.
Personnaly I find it a pity to see veiled women amongst this openminded society.

surrounded by 2300 meter high mountains (ends of himalaya), pai is about 1.500 m high. so, cool enough to sleep well at night :)

Days will melt away in this welcoming area. Although it has become quite touristy, when I was there in low season it was very relaxing and we didn't feel crowded at all.
