The Burma border was guarded by a Thai military guard post and we were informed that we could not take photographs. So we asked the guards to take a picture with us and we had them stand with thier backs to the border. I took this picture of the border crossing instead of them. They never noticed.

We did a 10 day trek out of Umphang along the Myamar border. The villages we stayed with were incredible in this nearly unexplored region of Thailand. This is a picture of the Chief in one of the villages we visited.

The waterfall here was a great relief from the heat and himidity of the surrounding jungle. It is a standard stop with the Umphang Hill Tribe tour company.

The Trek was incredible, but it was one of the most difficult things I had ever done. Then when I thought I couldn,t make it up another hill, it started to rain and the trails turned into rivers.

A: from where? that whole area is mountainous and you'll need to have a quite reliable motorbike if you plan to ride there.
