Uttaradit Things to Do

It's situated in Amphur Nam Pat about 75 kilometres from town , If you take bus from Uttaradit town to Amphur Nampat, you can see the big sign to the forest park on left hand sight.

This place is well know for the biggest teak tree in the world. It has a circumference of 9.87 metres and is believed to be about 1,500 years old. Unfortunately, its top has been broken off by storm but the trunk still stands.

" Phu-Soi-Dao " means the mountain to reach to the star. It's located between Uttaradit and Pittsanulok Province, 2,102 m above sea level, It's take 5-6 hours (6.5 kms)to reach the tent place.
Many tourist go to this place, each year during August - October, there are very beautiful wildflowers and plants, the most well-known call " Dok NgonNak" (Murdannia giganteum).

The main building is viharn which was built in the Late- Ayuthaya period, decorated with wood carving on pediment , window and door panels. The door panles are so beautiful with the Ayuthaya details.Some said it built from only one Sak tree and location is a high land ,that 's why it called Don Sak.

Phra Tan Sila-as is a square stone ,assumed to be built in Sukhothai period. In 2451 B.E. the building was burnt by fire ,just remain the stone. So King Rama V gave an ordering for renovated.

Nearby is a building of Local museum decorated in Northern style.There ýre souvenir shop and herbal & old Thai medicines products on the 1st floor.The 2nd floor collected and presented local things such as pottery ,weaving things ,lamps , old pictures ,..

Located in Tung Yang ancient city where was one important city in Sukhothai Period.The main building ‘s Mondop in Ayuthaya style as you can see in the picture,housed a couple of Buddha footprints.

Formerly named Mahathat temple . Situated the old chedi which contains Buddha relic. The chedi originally built in Sukhothai style as Lotus Bud chedi and changed to the bell shaped chedi later.
The must see:
-The main Chedi.Some scholars said it used to built in Sukhothai lotus bud style but it changed by renovation for many times.
-Viharn with mural painting inside.

Located in ancient city ,Phang city. This temple built in the same period as the beginning of this ancient city and stood as an important temple of this city from Sukhothai to Ayudhaya period.
The must see:
-The main Chedi. From chronicle ,it housed the most sacred relic of Buddha from Lanka. But this new one renovated in King Rama IV's reign.
-Viharn. A big building where used to have big wooden doors with a very fine carving.
-Ubosot . On the South side's a small building .Each panel of window decorated with stuccos like singha,Hanuman and human.

From the legend in buddha story told about Lab Lae town . He went to one village (assumed to be Tung Yang ) and watched to the location of Lab Lae town. This area was surrounded with forest and mystery ,so called Lab Lae. Some legends said about widow village , if men went there , no one can go out. Actually cuase of the geograpy and location more.In lab Lae town , almost buiding ýre old wooden shophouses and houses. At the end of town ýs a small mountain. All area covered with forest.
Til now, Lab Lae ýs still a simple village ,surrounded with rice fields, gardens and temples. Very nice place for relaxing.
