Mini Farm Kitchen, Hua Hin: Superb Thai Restaurant

by tigertribal

We had the best Chicken Satay we have ever had at this lovely restaurant. The Spring rolls & curries were also excellent. The staff were very friendly & attentive.Located at the end of Soi 88, just over the railway lines. We walked it from the Sofitel Hotel which is a fair distance away & there are no street lights on the long stretch. You could always take a tuk-tuk.Highly recommended.

BBQ Hut Restaurant, Patong Beach, Phuket: Nachos & Ribs

by tigertribal

BBQ Hut is superb for Mexican food. We went twice. They do the usual nachos, fajita, chillis etc. We did not try the ribs but they are said to be excellent. They also do other Asian food. The staff are friendly & efficient.Location is one street back from Beach Road, Rat-U-Thit Road & close to the Holiday Inn Hotel & Hard Rock Cafe.Highly recommended. We also tried the Coyote Mexican on Beach Road. We preferred BBQ Hut as we thought the food was nicer & also a lot cheaper.

Banana Pancake Rickshaw, Patong Beach, Phuket: Great Pancakes

by tigertribal

Not a restaurant, but if I did not have a dessert in a restaurant, I would have had a banana pancake on the way back to the hotel. Do not be afraid to try them in case you take ill, I did not & I ate a few.The rickshaws can be found all Patong Beach.Recommended.

Food Court, JungCeylon Mall, Patong Beach, Phuket: Cheap & Tasty

by tigertribal

Found in the basement of the JungCeylon Mall. Each of the dozen stalls here specialises in a regional Thai cuisine, so this is a good opportunity to try some different Thai food. They also serve regional Indian food. The food is so cheap, just try different dishes than you would usually get & if you dont like, get something else. At some stalls, you pay over the counter but at others you have to purchase a token & then hand that over.

Sabai Sabai Restaurant, Patong Beach, Phuket: Thai & Western

by tigertribal

Excellent Thai & Western dishes at very affordable prices. Doreen had a steak & I had a very nice creamy curry. Lovely staff.RecommendedLocated Beach Road, near MacDonald's, go into Soi Post Office, 3rd stall on the right.

Pad Thai

by white_smallstar

LOCAL CUISINE is always an important part of a trip, first because it is emblematic of the country you are visiting, second because it can be so tasty to become a great travel experience itself. That’s undeniable in a country like Thailand were food is a joy for eyes and for mouths so don't waste the chance to taste Thai food.It isn’t hard to find it because food carts/boats are really everywhere, lined some streets or floating some canals.Walking along some quarters, especially in Bangkok, you can enjoy hundreds of street chefs busy cooking noodles for customers attracted by the aroma of their creations. And there is the same array of kitchens-on-board along canals especially in floating markets. So simply order your noodles and look at their preparation: Pad thai noodles Hungry? Unfortunately a video can’t spread the smell of Thai Pad. And even less it is impossible to taste it :((I can...

Street side vendors: Eat from the vendors

by GitaP

Thai people eat constantly! Everywhere you go and that includes the big shopping drags in Bangkok, there are multitudes of vendors selling everything from grilled meats to little packets of freshly sliced fruit to yummy noodles, a sharp shock of hot thai salad. Unlike India, where Delhi Belly is a real problems, eating from street vendors in Thailand does not make you sick - well I was not. Its cheap and you get a chance to interact with locals. At night , plastic chairs and tables come out and streets are tarnsformed into eating areas. Great stuff all round. Tom yum goong is the hot and sour prawn soup synonymous with Thai food and its diffrent where ever you taste it. Flat fried noodles from the north are also fantastic and in chiangmai, street vendors sell you chuncks of a northern speciality of pork sausages flavoured with coriander, chillies, ginger, garlic, fish sauce - yummy!
