Restaurant Guide and Your Bill

by GracesTrips

In restaurants (not noodle shops or local cafes), 7% VAT is added to your bill. An additional service charge of around 10% is also added in places like hotels and more sophisticated restaurants. If your bill doesn't contain a service charge, then a tip of around 10% is appreciated if the service has met your expectations. The link below looks like a pretty good restaurant guide for the various major cities with types of cuisine, map reference, dress code, use of msg, credit cards accepted, ratings and price. It is illegal to smoke in an air-conditioned restaurant.

La Romanina: The Best Italian You Can Taste!!

by sweetcherrie77

If you happen to be in Bangkok you should try eating at La Romanina on Sukhumvit Soi 39 ,350m away from the Prompong BTS station and the Emporium Shopping Mall. The restaurant is in a two storey house which has a Tuscan home exterior design, and a very elegant yet warm interior setting. This restaurant is specialized in Italian and Spanish food which include dishes like spaghetti, pasta, lasagne, pizze and delicious seafood and main course. I personally like the Pizza alla Romanina, this pizza is absolutely yummy Ham, Smoked Bacon, Mushrooms, Tomato Sauce and very generous amount of Mozzarella chesse. As for spaghetti try the Spaghetti alla Vongole veraci, spaghetti with baby clam, olive oil, garlic and chili in white wine sauce also do try Fettuccine con frutti di mare alla Marinara, this is a homemade fettuccine with river prawn & scallops in marinara sauce. One thing special about...

Oh...Ho: Small, good and cheap

by USMarineRO

Just a little restaurant with a lot of food choices. Owned by a westerner that has "retired" in Bangkok, Oh Ho means Little Surprise in Thai. Very popular with the LGBT community, and the small size makes intimate dinners a possibility.Has free WiFi available from 18:00 to 20:00 everyday for dinner guests so bring your laptop.A very filling meal for 2 can be had for about 600 baht (20 USD); doesnt include alcholol but we did always order the fruit drinks. I tried just about everything...watch out though...if you order from the Western menu and select the "Burger", do not call it a "hamburger". I did and got a burger with ham on it. LOLThe coconut soup is a little too spicy for my taste, but it was good as along as the waiiter kept the water glass filled.

Dusit Thani: Don't order a hamburger

by moondeaux

Much of the food was excellent, but don't order a hamburger! The meat was all rubber, and actually came apart like balls of rubber bands glued together. Breakfast was fabulous with a buffet that had American and Asian cultures.

Thai food is just delicious...

by xaver

Thai food is just delicious and, they obviously have great fish. I particulary appreciated their soups.I cannot reccommend single restaurants, because you often have the best food in unnamed places. Everything is very unformal! My only problem is that I hardly can eat spicy food and thai food is spicy, specially in the north. If it wasn't THAT spicy I'd say tom yam soup.

Time-Thai: Great homemade thai food and coffee

An economical and small Thai restaurant located in Th Tha Phae. Ruled by a Thai family, they receive people from everywhere, at least, according to the comments on its walls. Coffee there is really famous

Angelini's @the Shangri-La Chao Praya: You'll want to thank the Chef . . .

by vixelpixen

While Italian is not my favorite dinner choice, Angelini's ranks as one of my all-time favorite restaurants. It has been reviewed many times by people more qualified to critique than myself so google it and search the best restaurant awards.I can only tell you that I have been there many times and have no words to describe how consistently delicious the food is. The setting is quite nice too. http://www.all-thailand.com/bangkok/bestrestaurantawards2006.php Any of the seafood dishes or the spinosini. I don't really have a favorite! Everything I have tasted was delicious! The creme brulee dessert is also presented very well.

Give it a body swerve.

by ilovetravel1

While on Koh Samui I enjoyed going to the restaurants for a dinner; always Thai food, but I found that you could get great food from the local vendors with their stalls. It would only cost 10 Baht for a big sausage on a stick or chicken which was cheap and filling. You could even be in a bar, drinking, and still buy some food and take it inside. The one thing I liked about the restaurants though was that they always had a couple of films on each night so you got food and entertainment all in one. A bigger screen than in the huts. Chicken on a stick
