Vertigo or Moon Bar: Amazing city views!

by sadie_sq

The restaurant Vertigo sits on the top of a 60 floor hotel, the Banyan Tree in Bangkok. The view is amazing and the restauant is adequately named because of the height! There are no side walls and no roof, so the restaurant closes when it rains. The menu is pricey (plan on over US $100 for 2) and the attire is dressy. However, for much less (and without the fancy clothes), you can grab a drink at the attached Moon Bar. If you are in Bangkok, it is worth the effort to come here! N/A - we only had drinks. The Vertigo Daisy was great!!

Introducing Thai Cuisine

by shelnlin

Thai Cuisine is amazing array of sweet, sour, salty and even spicy flavours all rolled into one, yet surprisingly each flavour compliments the other so it never tastes bad. Most of the dishes in Thailand will often be served with a soup first and then progressing to main meal and usually a side salad. To finish off sometimes there is a sweet which can be anything from Tapioca to Fruit. The Thai people tend to use a lot of fresh herbs and spices in their dishes such as lemongrass or tamarind which gives a real edge on cooking. Coconut milk is also used and gives a real lovely taste to their curries. Much of Thailand's cooking originated from China and in Western Europe. It is not uncommon to hear a Thai ask you "have you eaten yet?" as opposed to "how are you?" I am partial to most of the dishes in Thailand and have noted Tom Yum Goong (a spicy sour soup) as one of my favourites in my...

anusarn market: outside market food

by raenorthern

Consists of open air food stalls and restaurants (masses of them). We didin't find this until the last night which was a shame as the food was good and cheap. Do not be put off by outside food stalls - as long as its piping hot. I tend to be ill everywhere but thankfully not here. local thai food

cabbages and condoms: something different

by raenorthern

Worth a visit if in the area - we had wonderful sea bass in good surroundings. The restaurant supports the Planned parenthood Association of Thailand. It is a relaxed atmosphere with a well lit outside bar area. Free condoms are available for all diners. sea bass

by Homanded

Incredible views and service and very affordable. Place where the locals go. We were recomended by a local and couldn't believe the beauty of the night views across Patong.Do not miss opportunity. Get the Mussels and Garlic baked in it's own individual custom pan!Stuffed Squid was also delicious.A total of 7 of us ate, drank and filled ourselves and the grand price was 1,390 Baht for the table. (Approx 35USD).The ambiance alone was worth that.
