Streets in Thailand: The stands on the streets are a must!

by meneqvist

You haven't had thai food until you try it on the street. It's is absolutely amazing. It's so cheap and authentic, the ambience and surroundings are so real that once you've done it, you'll never go back to sitting indoors again... Just use common sense when you pick out a place Everything!!!

Freshest Seafood

by Jschukal

Forgive me for not remembering the name but this may have been one of the most expensive restaurants in Thailand. You actually pick the seafood you want and the vegetables and everything else. They charge you for the food and then present a bill after dinner for beverages and service. For three of us it was maybe $150 US. Extremely expensive for Thailand but pretty moderate to New York standards.

Where to eat, what to eat

by AndreSTGT

Thai cuisine is deservedly one of the most popular and renowned in the world, and Thai people love their food, it seems to be an integral part of their life and culture. Unless you're on a deserted island, you'll hardly be more than 100m away from a place where you can get something to eat, at any time of the day.Authentic Thai food is spicy and for some people it takes time to get accustomed to it, but it would be a shame not to enjoy the palatal pleasures of Thai food while you're in the country.Where to eat? This, of course, depends largely on your budget and style of traveling, but there are three main options for travelers :1. There are many excellent upmarket or luxury restaurants in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and other tourist centers. Dining there is a great experience with a wonderful atmosphere, perfect service, and affordable prices (compared to home). Many of them serve Royal...

A different kind of Rose-Apple (Chompoo)

all over the place: Custard-Apple (Noi-Na)

by balisunshine

With a tiny squeezeand a spoon at hand, the 'noi-na's' white andcreamy flesh is yours for the taking.Strong in flavor of fresh srawberriesand pears with a hint of cinnamon.Cut in half and there might bea slight problem with seperating the seeds from the flesh while eating.Don't eat the seeds!Season: June to December

Tip Photo

by balisunshine

Originally from Malaysia, they are hard and almost leathery thick skin encloses a white flesh which is divided into sections.Once opened,be careful of the mangosteen's purple rind, which is liable to stain, but enjoy the scrumptiouswhite segments which,is similar in texture to the lychee but is quit different in taste.Season: June to November

Tip Photo
all over the place: Those Yummy Rambutans!

by balisunshine

The Rambutan, (Nephelium Lappaceum) is a native fruit to the Malay Peninsula. The name is derived from the Malay ‘rambut’ meaning hair. It is a relative of the lychee and tastes real good! The white, translucent, juicy fruit is covered with a skin featuring soft yellow or red spines. It is easy to open its hairy shell with a slight cut of the knife or your teeth.Omit swallowing the large seed.It grows only in hot, humid climates. So there are plenty here during the May to October season.Bon appetite!

Tip Photo
All over the place: Mango (ma-Muang) -The Most Popular Fruit
