Pratunum market: market shopping

by dutyfree

This is a amazing market where you can basically bargain for anything you want. Clothing and leather goods are to be had with great prices and you can bargain till your heart content. I love thailand and the hussle and bussle make it more fun. Clothing ie ladies/mens jeansBags and WalletsShoes and sandlesLuggage and travel gearwatches and more watches. It depends what you pay to how much you bargain. Its amazing how much discount you can get if you are prepared to walk away.

Hypermarket: Carrefour

by jrd69

Important note Pronounced correctly will usually get just blank stares.Thai pronunciation KaaFhoorAs with Lotus a good way to see many exotic things in a pleasant setting. Food courts are also always good. anything less that at home

Tesco lotus: hypermarkets

by jrd69

A good “hassle free” insight into the local foods and some good western eats too. Inexpensive clothes et al. in a bright, friendly aircon environment. Try something different at the food court. All clean and cheap enough that if you don’t like it you can just leave it. Food Clothes Almost anything less than at home!

Chao Prhra ya Suits Exclusive Taylor: Our favorite Taylor by FAR!

by Homanded

We had suits and several clothing articles made throughout Asia; including China, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai. By far, the best quality was in Bangkok's "Chao phra ya Suit" tailors. Their address is: 712-714-716 Krungkasem Road. Tel: (662) 629-9994, 282-1408. Fax: (662) 282-7355. They had an incredible amount of textiles to choose from, were by far the most proffessional and, even delivered to our hotel for us. We recomend at least 2-3 days, although yes, they CAN have it ready for you in just 24 hours (sometimes, even less). You want to allow one day for a second "fit" and any necessary alterations. Speciafy things such as 1 or 2 pockets, special requests, etc. Incredible assortment of Cashmere and Cashmere blends. Great silks and textiles.Look through their various magazines, will copy a suit to a tee. We paid about $140.00USD for Cashmere, Suit, 2 pants, 3 Silk Shirts...

Any supermarket/superette: Cheap and Affordable Tolietries

by shelnlin

'Kiwi' another New Zealand woman like me, said that she likes collecting a few items from overseas especially when we cannot get them in our own home countries. The cute packaging or the foreign language makes it look so much more exciting to some of your own home countries stuff. Thailand has a great range of things that you would use back home and while you are there. These three photographs are just a few of the items I purchased while I was there and I will explain why I added these to my Thai pages. They can be found generally in most supermarkets, chemists or department stores. Firstly, the Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder. This powder is wonderfully refreshing and cooling for the traveller. It is made up of mainly Menthol and is fantastic when it is hot. This product is useful especially if you tend to feel the heat especially when you are not used to it and can relieve itching,...

Ban Tawai: Cheap as chips woodcarvings

by raenorthern

Need own transport (or 'taxi' as we did) an consists of a large village of shops and factories where woodcarving pieces of any kind are the cheapest and best quality you'll find. It is also possible to watch them working. Some real abrgins we bout a fantatsic carving of two elephants under a tree for about £15 in england you'd expect to pay around £150.place was recomended to us by a local so we thought we'd give it a whirl and were really glad we did. woodcarvings of all types and sizes - something for everyone depends but really cheap compared to the tourist places - the locals shop here and it's used to supply the tourist shops

All kinds of places: Buy Thai Music CD's

by Paul_the_Seeker

You can find music CD's in any mall or department store, in some shops along the street, or sometimes street or market vendors. Music CD's produced in Thailand are very cheap, usually 150 baht or so. There is so much piracy in Thailand that the recording companies reacted by cutting their prices in half. It worked, though you can still find MP3 disks with a half-dozen albums on them at Pantip Plaza and other places (the quality won't be as good, however). If only the greedy American companies could do the same. The major labels are Grammy, Bakery, and RS.You can also buy karaoke VCD's that will have video and are playable in DVD players in all countries (though some players sometimes have trouble). Grammy has subtitles in English... well, Thai that is readable by us farangs. You have to be careful with DVD's. The stupid region thing means they may or may not work in your region. Some are...
