The Macaque monkeys are natural in this part of the world, they can live total wild life deep in the jungle away from humans but often they realize that life is much easier being close to humans and live from what is around. I added here few photos of Macaque monkeys is saw by the side of the road on the way back from the national park

No need to mention that Thailand as the whole South East of Asia is fantastic place for bird watching. No matter where you get to there will be beautiful birds and it is just wonderful to wake up in the morning with the sound of birds just outside your room.
Added here few photos I took in the area.

One that visits this area must take a trip also to the Khao Sok National Park. Thailand one of the most beautiful parks with its old jungle and the river. You can hang around in jungle or kayaking in the river, I will add more info and photos in the future.

Typical view froma trail inside the park

Khao Sok National Park is 73km away. It is possible to book organised tours from Khaolak or you can take a local bus and take your own tour. I did the latter.

When I arrived I employed a guide for 500 baht but this proved to be a waste of money. I had envisaged that a guide would be essential. However, there are not many paths through the park and they are all signposted. All my guide did was drink my water and tell me about his many conquests with farang girls!

The best views were from before the park entrance where towering limestone rock formations can be seen jutting out of the ground.

The park was a bit of a disappointment. There are apparently many forms of wildlife there but in the daytime, especially near the walking paths, they stay away. All I saw were some spiders and a lizard. Apart from that a lot of trees.

I tried to save some money but it might be advisable to take an organised tour where you will be taken to see some more interesting things.

If you travel independently be aware that there is a 200 baht entrance fee to the park which presumably is included in an organised tour.

There are plenty of other animals and wild life, among the amazing are snakes, reptiles, other lizards and so on. Just keep your eyes and ears open and you can see and photograph many of those.

    Bungalows

The bungalows of the resort can be hard to find in the jungle. On the photo there are two of them. Can you see them?
