After our morning visit to Kim Yong Market, my friend and I walked about 1 mile to the Hat Yai Train Station. Both like to take train pictures, and we are delighted to see two old trains on display beside the station. Snap..snap..snap..

- Family Travel
Hi VT members
Will be visiting Hat Yai again next month.
Wonder how much is the tuk tuk fare now.
Traveling with family of 3 adult and 2 young children, with this group size do I ask for fare per head or total fare.
Can anyone recommend any playground for children and places of interest is much welcome.
Lastly appreciate if you can suggest some good road side stalls or eating places.
Thanking You in advance.
Ton Nga Chang Waterfall
This is the most famous waterfall in Hatyai. It is located 26km away from the city. Take highway 43 and go for 13km, turn left at Ban Hu Rae. Then continue for another 13km until you come to the park. It has seven tiers, but it is the 3rd tier that gives its name "Elephant Tusks Waterfall" because the waterfall splits in the middle into 2.Related to:

'Ne Zha' Temple
LI-NEZHA: Trickster God Boy of Childish Pranks and Tantrums.
Even if you are well-versed in Godly ways, it's just possible his story could stretch your credulity. Formerly a monstrous Immortal with three heads, eight arms and nine eyes, LI-NEZHA was sent down to Earth by the JADE-EMPEROR to subdue a plague of demons.

Tang Kuan Hill
Need to buy a 30Bath ticket for a lift to the top of Tang Kuan Hill. Actually, there's an alternative by using the staircase at the back of the hill, but if you don't have a weak heart like me - worth to try, just try.

Take an excursion to Songkhla
About 45 mins by car or a little longer by bus, you can visit the sleepy town of Songkhla. It's an interesting town full of friendly people. Located by the water, you can spend some time at the beach or at some of the beautiful temples.Related to:
New Monastery to visit - very friendly
A newish monastery (4-5 years old) has opened up on the edge of town.
Whilst it is only half finished the complex is a very pleasant place to spend a hour or two. The novice monks are friendly and their teachers are often keen to practice their English as well.
The afternoon we were there they played an interesting game designed to promote teamwork.
Two teams of about 30 monks (mostly teenagers) sat squatting in a line, each monk holding onto the waist of the monk in front.
They then had a race over about 30 meters - to see which team could get to the finish line first. Of course if the 'snake' fell apart then that team lost.
The monks loved playing the game, the youth and exurberance just exuded from them. When it came to teaching, however they sat down cross-legged with rapt attention.
As a teacher, I can't see 9B doing that in a hurry !
The complex includes various prayer halls, teaching rooms and a giant Buddha.Related to:
