The Hatyai International Airport with a completely terminal is about 9km from the city centre... There are only a few flights a day to/from the airport... Only Thai International Airways and other budget airlines flies this route... Tiger Airways from Singapore, Nok Air, Thai Air Asia and Thai Oriental Airlines from Bangkok... the Malaysian Air Asia has temporary suspensed it flights from Kuala Lumpur due to low demand... Passenger coming in from Malaysia normally flies to the nearest airport at Alor Setar and then go to Hatyai by taxi...
For international flights, do not forget to save 500 baht for the airport departure tax..

If you arrive at the Hat Yai airport anytime after 9 p.m., it is virtually impossible to get a ride into town (about 20 minutes drive), as most means of public transportation here generally ends between 9 - 9.30 p.m. Plan to arrive much earlier.

45 minutes flights from Bangkok or 10 hours by bus. I tried both but I still prefer going there by night bus.
