Thai script gets translated into the roman alphabet in a number of interesting ways.
I think Hat Yai is the correct name but Haad Yai also appears and I ended up calling it Hat Yat, Yai Hat, Hatty Jaques, Yat Hai, Hai Yai, Had Yat, Yat Hat, Hat the hat, and God knows what else.
It's not too much of a problem as long as you don't end up confused and end up in the wrong location !
