Favorite thing: So where exactly is Koh Lipe? It's in Southern Thailand, the nearest and most popular island is actually Koh Tarutao which is halfway between the mainland and Koh Lipe. Koh Tarutao is a national park, very well preserved and so very quiet, as are the surrounding islands, therefore you don't get the sort of party life as in other Thai islands and only a few very basic accommodations... but Koh Lipe is actually out of the national park jurisdiction so you do get a few cool chilled out lodgings and bars on the beach and in the jungle. It's not so easy to get to, pretty time consuming as there's only one ferry a day from Satun, etc... but well worth the trip if, like me, you love basic rustic lazy island holidays! A: It really does not matter where you stay as the island is small and it´s easy to walk to other beaches...but Sunrise beach is the best in low season.
