When we returned Jan 08' on the evening of the FMP Casablanca was packed like any other restaurant. We looked across the street and there was another Casablanca restaurant.....same restaurant PT 2. WE were all able to find a seat in group of 6 and had our fav dish. Same type of serve and atmosphere. The menu was a carbon copy of the visits past.
Favorite Dish: The Pizza.....only if you like thin crust.
Cost 180B-200B ea.

The restaurant at Sandy Beach Bungalows is very good .They serve both Thai & Western food and at night you can eat fresh seafood BBQ on the beach or in the chill out area with low tables sitting on the floor. You can just help yourself to drinks and just write it down on your bill. There is also a movie room upstairs with lots of DVDs for guest if your feeling bored. The staff here are very nice and they can arrange transport to the pier when you leave just tell them the night before.
Favorite Dish: big beef/chicken BBQ,Barracuda, fruit shakes.

There is a lot of bad food in Koh Phangan. Most restaurants have very little creativity or just stamp out typical fare that is catering to farang tastes rather than real Thai food. I often stay in Thong Nai Pan Yai and the top picks are:
1) Na Thong restaurant- this is on the main road on the left as you come into Thong Nai Pan Yai. Most locals eat here. Standard (but good) Thai food.
2) Boozy's Deli- run by an israeli couple- very fresh, high quality food prepared right in front of you. Steaks, pastas, middle eastern food, desserts. A little expensive but worth the cost.
3) Chai Ya Restaurant/Bar- great European style dishes like Steak Au Poivre. Also decent Thai food. Friendly staff, ask for Mai who also makes paintings and tattoos.
4) The Isaan shop- in the daytime, back behind the main road. Cheap and good isaan food such as somtam (papaya salad), namtok moo (spicy pork salad), grilled chicken, sticky rice.
5) Memory Restaurant- off the main road. Decent noodle soup and thai dishes.
Nearby in Noi Beach you might also try Ban Pong's for great food, and Que Pasa for Mexican dishes that are surprisingly pretty good. Also recommended is Rasta Baby Restaurant.

Just off the main street in Thong-sala they have every night a square where all the food vendors set up there various food carts and stalls.
Each vendor has thier own section of outdoor chairs and tables for thier own customers.
You can buy your food fresh and they cook it for you right there while you wait ..or in my case drink.
You can get everything at this food square from spicey Thai food to fried chicken and of coarse fresh seafood.
One particular vendor stood out to me as better, fresher ,and cleaner than all the rest and that was "Prapai Seafood"
Favorite Dish: You can choose here from a variety of fresh fish.
They have Red and white snapper as well as a fish they call "Kampong' and another they call "Saba" which I'm not sure what thier English name is.
There is also Mussels and Prawns and a variety of fresh vegtables as well.
Very fresh very tasty and quite cheap.
I had BBQ snapper several times from here (both Red and White) and it was always very tasty.

Someone we met told us we had to take a look in the Dolphon restaurant. We had walked down to the end of the beach a couple times but never really noticed....when we went in through the apron of leaves and trees there was a little uptopian restaurant, lounge, and bungalow resort....very small really, but the sitting areas were unique and well kept....say 5 or 6 different little areas you could sit, chill, eat and drink....the place in run by a european lady...scanidinavian maybe...thai husband....cute little son running here and there. Menu had a good mix of healthy hearty items including antipast, pasta, sandwiches and stir frys....we had a couple shakes for flavour which were very good as well....we wanted to go back another time but never got the chance....Nice for a mid day snack....food service closes at 2 or 3pm I think.
Favorite Dish: A mint energy shake...refreshing!
Crushed mint leaves too!

Great food! Dreamland had a decent evening BBQ....simply select the fish, seafood or meat...add corn or baked potato as well....real good. We would order 15 or 20 minutes before sitting down at the restaurant and then go over when ready....add on menu items as well...all in all pretty inexpensive...well more than an order of pad thai but cheap none the less.....ate the BBQ almost every night.
Favorite Dish: The Chicken (if you can believe it) was a fav...the white snapper good to, and of course the prawns....80-100 baht ea.
Enjoy with a Singha or a SPY cooler (Amy choice)

Service has always been less than average but the food makes up for it. As cliche as it is to go to Thailand and eat pizza, sometimes you just need something your stomach is familiar with....the pizza here was awesome...thin crust and many different varieties. You can catch the tube or people watch on the lane way.
Favorite Dish: Pizza ...decent shakes and lemon juice.

Healthy and generally tasty but most expensive in the area ... when the indian buffet dinners are offered they are a good deal ...
Favorite Dish: These energy balls are a must ... and the vegetarian chocolate is really good too (much better than their other chocolate cakes ... scones are good ... they also have a refreshing drink of ginger and lemon (?)
i wasnt that impressed with the savory items ... except the fresh spring rolls, and the spring rolls with seaweed ... those are worth trying ...
