On this trip while walking along the beach we noticed this bar during the day, which was good, but at night is when this bar came alive. During the day the bar didn't seem too busy, but we did notice the staff preparing for the fire shows that evening. After setting everything up they promised us a great show, so that night we decided to come back and check it out.
The show begins around 11:00 pm every night and usually last about an hour or so. The staff doing the show are quite good and are fun to watch. When the show is finished the staff bring out some fire items that the people watching can try if they want. Usually it is a fire ring or rope, but one time we saw them playing with a ball on fire (see tips). To go along with the fire show that these guys put on they also provide good service and drinks for the customers.
Dress Code: Well the bar is out in the open on the beach, so really whatever you feel comfortable wearing would be a good choice.

It was a great place on a beach on Phi-Phi island - there was some bar in the midlle of the beach 9not far from the Bay View resort) with music from 60-s or 70-s, on sand there were quite a few mats - where you have a candle while you are lying, listening to music, consume tasty drinks and watching the stars....a milliard, billiard of stars....in combination with the wonderful music - it was an eden on the earth

This place is bigger than most on the island and has a great fireshow early and good music later if you want to dance.
They are also big on the famous Thai "buckets of joy" where you mix whatever you whatever you want to drink (Whisky Vodka etc) in a small bucket with lots of straws.
We were drinking Vodka, Redbull and soda.
Mostly an international crowd and staff for some reason??
(please note since early 2008 this place has been demolished and is currently being rebuilt)
Dress Code: No real dress code on Phi Phi.

Hippies bar is just a small restaurant/bar during the day that you might easily walk straight past.
At night however they make a dancefloor right on the sand of Tonsai bay and the DJ pumps out great dance and Techno music to dance to until late.
They usually start off with some kind of Fire Show first which is really great.
Try the "buckets of joy" an get really merry!
Dress Code: Anything you like ....but not too much it's too hot.

Carlitos is easily the most popular bar at Phi Phi. The bar is right on the beach, so much so that as the tide changes, the waves start crashing at your feet and you will have to shift your table behind.
The bar is packed most times and serves up the regular cocktails and drinks. The staff is very friendly. They are supposed to have a fireshow everyday after 10 pm, however, when we went there on christmas eve, we only saw a fireshow done by the restaurant next door and I must add that it was awesome!
Do not miss the signboard outside carlitos giving distances for Rekjavik and Mexico. Quite hilarious!

Fancy a change? Catch a film at 007 Bar. This bar is dedicated to James Bond but don't worry you are unlikely to see a James Bond film there.
Film times are 5pm, 7pm and 9pm. See the daily board outside for what is on.
The food is tasty and the staff are really friendly. Always smiling.

There are several pubs/bars on the island with big and small establishments. The three bigger ones on the island are the Reggae bar which houses thai boxing which was as authentic as a lui vuitton bag in bangkok never the less it was very entertaining! the second big bar is the irish pub which is basically located across from the reggae bar and Apache bar with views of the bay. There are other smaller bars scattered around the main areas but there are only two stand outs.... Carliots and Hippies Bar. Carlitos is basically a scando bar filled with Swedes etc.... Good music, good location, good drinks and good people. Best of to start the night here as it is the busiest place. As the night moves on Hippies lights up as most crowds move there. Its tucked away but easy to find just ask around, Located basically on the beach you can either relax on the sand or in the bar area. Music is a bit more trance but has a mix of hip hop songs etc.....
Dress Code: Dress Code is basically wear what u want! i recommend comfort clothing as its an island and no one dresses as they would if they were in a hustling bustling city.

The Reggae bar complex has 5 bars, pool tables and is good for dancing late into the night. For alternative entertainment, you can see Thai Boxing three nights a week with professional boxers coming down from Bangkok to fight. On Friday night the purse is real and so is the fight. They get some big national names in the high season. Fight night is big and so are the crowds.
