Best dive shop Phi Phi [& different]

    by jimbo78 Written Jul 9, 2008

There are many dive centers in Phi Phi [about 12 or so], and they all offer pretty much the same thing at the same prices. They all offer local dives trips, wreck trips and Hin Daeng trips. Some centers offer only Padi courses, some offer both Padi and SSI courses.
Luckily we found one dive shop that is slightly different from all the others and we were satisfied 100%, and glad we chose them.
They are called Harlequin Scuba Diving Center, they offer all Padi & SSI dive courses, a full range of dive trips and they are the only center in Phi Phi that is a EANX [nitrox] center also. The main reason they are different from the other shops, is that they are located in a lovely area just a few minutes walk from the main town, directly by the beach. They run their local marine park trips in a small custom made fast dive boat, which leaves from directly outside their shop making the dive trips 'hassle free' in small groups, avoiding the often chaotic main pier of Phi Phi. They often run trips of 2 dives in the morning and 2 dives in the afternoon. All of their equipment is good, their staff are very friendly and also very professional.
We had a great time diving with them, and will highly recommend them to any other travellers and divers.
When you get to Phi Phi, go and check them out your self, and you will see the difference.

Hassel free diving - Viking Divers

by grahamopey Written Jul 11, 2006

Viking divers is a small company with it's own boat operating out of koh phi phi.
Although it specialises in the nearby islands they can also organise live aboard trips.

I have so far done two 'discover scuba diving' trips without yet taking the full course and Viking were definately the better by a long way (versus scandinavian divers on krata beach phuket).

The staff are friendly and provide excellent one to one tuition, whats more they aren't out in the streets of phi-phi constantly asking 'would you like to go diving tomorrow?'. They keep it small, intimate and ultimately safer.

My experience of scuba is far from great (or even fair) but in my book they come highly reccomended.

Many shops to choose from but we picked Princess Divers, really friendly cool guys who have been on the island ages so know it well above and below the water. they are recovering from complete destruction after Tsunami but still gave us a great day out and our bestdives yet

Equipment: everything provided just suntan lotion and a smile we were asked to bring with us.

    Parascending, Koh Phi Phi

This is one of the many watersports activities available on Phi Phi, besides the scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, long tail boats and deep sea fishing. But for me (an adrenalin junkie) and my mother (a scaredy but have a bit of a go cat) it was a perfect way to enjoy some beach fun and fantastic views. Not expensive at all, and worth every penny. All in all you are in the air for around 15 mins - which seems much longer when your up there and coming back down couldn't be simpler, as they guide you back to shore slowly and plop you in about 4ft of water. Not quite as wild as Bungee Jumping or my James Bond stunts on a jetski on Patong Beach earlier in the holiday, but about as much as my 48 year old mother could handle as she was lifted 60 metres into the air.

There is a lot of nice places around Phi Phi to scuba dive. Try Koh Bida Nok and Koh Bida Nai, maybe you meet the whaleshark at Koh Bida Nok?! There is also a great swim through near Maya Bay. We was swimming through 4 small caves! Fantastic!

Equipment: You can rent all the equipment you need on one of the dive centre at Phi Phi. I can recommand the Island Divers! Very good dive centre!

    Phi Phi Scuba Center

I was recommended from a traveler whose been diving with Phi Phi Scuba in years. When I got there, he was right about it. They have very good service and friendly staff. Besides, Phi Phi Scuba is the largest diving center and the only center with 3 nice boats to choose.
You can choose between the local dive trips, the three-dive trip to the King Cruiser wreck , or to world class five star diving in Hin Daeng and Hin Muang. After the dive, enjoy the video their making while writing the logbook at the bar upstair.

Equipment: If u don't bring ur own gear, u can rent. They have many kind that fits almost anyone, even I got a mask with corrective lense -3.

    Moskito Diving Center

There are more than 20 dive shops in Phi Phi Island. We chose to dive with Moskito Diving, which is the oldest (established in 1987) and by repute the best dive center in PP. We had such a great time diving with them that we want to recommend them to everyone wishing to dive in Phi Phi Island.

    Beautiful corals

Phi Phi Island is surrounded by unique underwater rock formations and a huge variety of fish and corals. There are various diving sites suitable both for novice and professional divers. You can catch sight of leopard shark, turtle, stingrays, octopus, moray eel, barracuda, nudibranch, gorgonian sea fans, barrel sponges... just to give you a few examples!!

Equipment: You can bring your own equipment if you want, but you can also rent eveything you need from the dive shops.
