Transportation & Getting Around, Ko Samui

Favorite thing: Motor Bikes are cheap on the island, but I thing they are a littlebit dangerous. I saw many young people with blody arms and feet. Be careful using motor bikes. They are cheap and you can use on the hole island. Easier to do trips and of course cheaper tha taxis or tuk-tuk. I didn't had bad opportunities.

Favorite thing: In Koh Samui the roads are in pretty bad condition and you should notice that when you are planning your driving in the island. The motorway which goes around the island is in fairly good shape. The main public transportation is covered pick-up trucks which are converted into taxis called songtoas. The fare ranges from 20 baht depending on the distance.

Favorite thing: If you are backpacker and you don't want to pay to lot for travelling, you just have to pay twice for taxi. But you have to pay anyway. The beach and the place near the harbour is not so good. If you want really enjoy the island you have to go to other beaches like I did on Lamai.

Favorite thing: Samui island is full of interesting things. If you visit the tourist information centre you can get free maps. But in usually you can get it almost everywhere. Favorite thing: Koh Samui is located in Southern Thailand, and is located just off the Eastern coastline. Most of the time we spent on the island was on the northeastern corner, where the statue of Big Buddha, Chaweng Beach, and Mae Nam beach are located.

Favorite thing: This is were you can catch ferries to Surat Thani ,Ko Phangan or Ko Tao.Across the road from the Pier you will find a number of tour office ,restaurants,a little market and shops.There are also transportation to other beaches.Watch out for the Taxis ,they will charge you a fix price .It can be abit of a rip off if your going a short distance!
