Apart from Chaweng and Lamai there are loads of great and quite beaches the best i think is Bo Phut which is near Big Buddha.
I found the best way was to get on my scooter, then just ride...........see a sign post and take a look

Nothing beats lazing on the beach with the sea lapping at your feet. The beach here although at times a little overcrowded with numerous beach sellers was one of my favourites. The sand was white and soft, the sea was shallow and perfect. If you can get used to the hassle it's worth staying in Chaweng.

Located on the east side and about 7 km long with coconut trees Chaweng beach is the most crowded beach in Samui .The beach are near or have access from the hotels
Located on the south side a place less development and less crowded and smaller comparing to Chaweng beach Lamai beach is preferred by families or people who like quiet beaches to relax

Hinta Hinyai is Thai for Grandfather & Grandmother and this beach is situated just around the corner and a short walk from Hinta Hinyai Rocks. Both these sites are also located just south of Lamai on the south east coast and are well worth a visit.

Early in the morning the beach is a great place for a quiet dip to help you to decide how you will spend another day in paradise.
One of the photo's here is the view from my breakfast table over-looking Chaweng beach.
Not too long after I took these photo's I was in there for my morning wake up swim.
I wasn't there long before the Jet-ski guys arrived to start thier wheeling and dealing for another day.
They have a very good business here and must make a fortune as their jet-ski's were always in use.
Also you can buy just about anything you want on this beach, once the merchants start trotting up and down the beach with there wide range of products for sale.
You can get a great massage here too for only a few hundred baht per hour! (oil or Thai style)

Koh Samui has some of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. White powdery sand beaches.
Lamai, Chaweng and Bophut are some of them. Don't miss any !
A good way of seing the beaches and have a swim is to rent a motorbike and go round the island.

Lamai beach is a lot more quite and laid back compared to to Chaweng beaches hive of activity.
However the resturants and beach service drinks is still close-by and so are the Jet-ski's if you want one.
Also (as you can see in the photo) there are still sarong and cloths sellers walking up and down the beach just in case you get a sudden urge to buy something.
There are less people around though when compared with Chaweng beach.
It is a beautiful place to go for a relaxing swim though and in some places the water gets very deep quite quickly.
