Getting around Ko Samui is cheap and cheerful. Anything from around 100-250 bahts for short journeys. The taxi's are fun, jump on the back and away you go. Around Chaweng you'll never have trouble finding a taxi as they call out and honk their horn at you all day long! If you fancy a change there are also lots of mo-ped taxis, although I gave them a miss. Funny watching about 4 people squeeze onto one bike!

The best way to get around Koh Samui is to hire a Taxi and driver for the day. .....but don't forget to barter. We got our nice Taxi driver, Cockeet, for 5 hours for only 1800 Baht - down from the original 2500 Baht he wanted to charge us. .....That's 6 people, crammed into a Taxi for 5 hours for only about $60AUS. Bargain, I reckon!! ;o)

Tuk Tuk is an easy to move around from place to another. and another alternative you can rent a scooter which is slighly cheaper than tuk tuk because, if u taking tuk tuk to move around, it gonna cost you if u want to go to one place and another, but if u renting a scooter, u can use it as your own bike, so u can go at any places you want at anytime.
I did not ride a scooter as i have many bad experience about it... once i got accident and hit a back of the cow, that was the last time i ever ride a motor bike.

I have to distinguish between taxi cars and taxi bikes. Both are in plentiful supply in Koh Samui. Taxis can be flagged down in the street or your hotel can order one for you. Car’s are best used when there is a group of you travelling and/or you have a lot of luggage (eg. Going to the airport). Chaweng central to the airport cost 300,-

the cheapest public transport to bring u round the island is by taxi, "tut tut". it is around 50 baht per ride no matter where u stop. always remember...ask for the price FIRST before u hop on any vehicle.

2000 baht for traveling around the island, to major place of interest, from chaweng beach to big budda for only 300 baht, that is the usual price, expesive but safe and with air-con, it is very seldom they turn the meter, so better ask the price before you go, and better ask the local people for advise in advance
