Katoeys (Ladyboys/Transvestites), Ko Samui

Ladyboys are part & parcel of life on Koh Samui .There is are a couple of places one is called Christy`s and by all reports is a fun way to spend a couple of hours Of course if you fancy a ladyboy then this is not a danger to you,My ex girlfriend has a friend who is a ladyboy & it`s sometimes hard to tell from a distance but up close look for the adams apple , deeper voice, larger hands & feet & they have no hips & the marjority are taller than a ridgee didge Thai lady.

In the bar/nite club scene remember it`s dark so be careful.

I warn you now, especially you guys, don't take the *** out of the lady boy,s/transvestites or prostitutes.Respect them and leave well alone. Our strip of bungalows were all awoken by a knife weilding lady boy outside a guys bungalow who had made fun of her.
It was not a nice experience. She threatened to be back with friends.
And I tell you its there land they HAVE friends ok.
Took alot of people to calm her and make her leave.

Not really a warning, more like a general tip;

The katoyes (ladyboys) in Ko Samui can be very pushy and forward and definitely don’t take a “no” as an answer. Sometimes they come up to you (if you are a man off course) and start to touch you, often near the groin. They are quick and know exactly what they do.
Many men have fallen for this trick and spent a night with a ladyboy (not anything you want to brag about to your buddies at home!).
It’s fun to see them and talk to them but many are just out for your money.
I actually noticed one ladyboy who tried to steal some baths I had in my pocket…
The "He-she" never going to something like that again…

Enjoy your stay in Ko Samui but don’t leave your brain and common sense at home!

For all those who grace the VT wall of shame because they are desperate and lonely guys (and one girl the last time I checked), you are in luck!! There is someone in the world that will go out with you! And you get a great conversion rate on having to pay for her.. him... it... Most currencies are real strong versus the baht, so you should be going home with a ladyboy in no time!!

For those other "searching souls" that are otherwise normal; beware!! Apperances are not what they seem in Thailand!! Thankfully, someone warned me! Now I am warning you!! Or maybe thats what you are after...

Christy's is the famous bar that has its entertainers crossing the line between man and woman. Yes, I went. Yes, I was with a large group so I felt safe and normal. The show is a type of caberet show that is up there with New Orleans' shows I've seen. Funny parts, and its famous, so you should probably see it if you've never had the chance before. Drinks are fairly cheap and good, and the entrance is free. Get there early as it is always packed.
