Beach Blindness

Sadly all that white sand and clear blue sea and blazing sun can lead to a form of blindness due to the overpowering glare. Refuse to buy expensive ones as you'll break or lose them and just get a crappy pair ( preferably with pink plastic frames )

Politeness

Thai people are culturally very big on politeness , they are naturally polite so rudeness can provoke an extreme reaction.
One nasty incident i witnessed was outside a nightclub where a taxi drew up with four english tourists ( public school ) who argued with the taxi driver over the fare ( difference of about 20p ) ,when they started abusing the taxi driver he went absolutely mental and started chasing them around with a pipe.

While riding your scooter at anything up to 70 mph you will encounter various hazards , wildlife will appear in the middle of the road ( elephants and giant pigs ) , street sellers will harass you , pink bar girls will solicit you , tranvestites will scare you and dogs will chase you down the road.

You hear a lot of rumours about Mekong Whisky and i don't know how much of it is true. However after drinking a shed-load of it i can say that it feels like drinking a couple of pints of Vodka and Red Bull and turns you into the scooter version of Evil Kneival

Mosquitoes

The mosquitoes here are vicious ,there's no real escape from the little b@stards ,as soon as the sun sets , despite the heat its a good idea to wear trousers as they come out in swarms.
There is nothing more annoying than the combination of sweat and mosquito bites ,that makes you do a St Vitus dance trying to stop them itching.

Prison in Thailand

If for any reason you think you should bring drugs into Thailand be warned - if you get caught you stand the chance of the death penalty. Even foreigners are punished by death.
