The Simple Life is one of the many beach restaurants serving seafood and barbecue. It is mostly very full, try to get there early or you won't get a table. Inside it is a bit noisy, music is very loud, nevertheless it's comfortable and the staff is friendly.
They really have the best barbecue at this restaurant. Try the mixed barbecue with chicken, pork and beef, with vegetables and pineapple. Yummy! Restaurant at Coral Grand Resort by Ines28 The restaurant is situated directly at the beach, it is comfortable and offers nice views. We both tried local and western food, it was delicious. We mostly had lunch there but also tried the seafood barbecue in the evening, which did not convince us.
The Thai noodles with chicken and vegetables are great, also the small spring rolls are yummy. Maybe it is a shame to have a tuna sandwich in Thailand, but it was so delicious! You should also not miss the banana milk shake! Thian Og from New Heaven by AudK Food is delicious -mmmm!! And the view is fantastic. Overlooks the whole of Thian Og (Rocky) Bay. My photos taken there are all postcard material. Hee hee! The place is clean, and the staff are friendly too. I highly and boldly recommend this place to everybody planning to visit Ko Tao :)
Fried rice with shrimp. Mmmmmmmmmm. Shrimp is fresh, fried rice was tasty. The bacon and egg sandwich was pretty good too. If you're craving for a pizza , some ordinary greek salad or good wine this is actually one of these many options to choose from. I actually prefer Thai food, but my friend was looking for something more substancial. Didn't get a pizza though because the Italian chef wasn't on shift yet, so I just went for a salad. It was ok, maybe a bit too small for the price... Next time...Thai again! Mr J's by phil_uk_net I tended to eat where I was staying. The food at Mr J's was good and cheap. For example, Pad Thai was just 20 baht or 30 baht with meat added. Everything is cooked fresh after it is ordered. Seating is on cushions in the open. I had to use lots of bug repellent while eating.
The Pad Thai, Tom Yum and generally all of the Thai dishes were good. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: Mr J'sDirections: Near Koh Tao centre

Found this place just by wandering around the bungalows, shops and cafes. It is well known as everything is on the east side of the island as everything is so close to eachother. If you get lost looking for it, which is virtually unheard of, just ask someone! We went on our holiday hoping to have as much Thai food as possible and not touch Western or Chinese food, and so when we found this shack type place we wandered in. They have some tables and chairs but mostly they have very low tables and you sit on the floor on these really comfortable cushions which have a back rest. So to feel more authentic, we went for the floor tables. There are birds everywhere there is food in Thailand it seems, but I dont know the name of these birds, (so if anyone wants to help out?) they are black with bright orange beaks. They are scavengers almost, ready for that second you leave your table to get to your plate before the waitress clears it up..quite fun to watch! The surroundings are fun as well as you have a dense forest like situation going on behind the restaurant (its all made of wooden pillars so there is no glass or front door so you get to see everything around you) and in front you have the main road where you can people watch. They also have a television where you can watch TV programmes (they have satellite) or dvds they may be showing that night.
We first tried the Panang Curry not having any idea what it would be like and some spring rolls, when in Rome and all that...but they didn't have spring rolls so we saw a dish called 'Thai Fries' on the menu instead. So unaware of what they were going to be like our minds started wandering to possible delights! They have big jugs of water on the table so more often than not you don't need to order anything to drink, although when you see the mango, banana, strawberry, kiwi milkshakes come out from the kitchen, you do start to think that might be a better idea!He he! Our curry came and what we usually ended up doing was splitting everything so we could try different dishes. It was a curry with lots of veg which pleased me and after two mouthfuls, my mouth was on FIRE!!!!! But such a great FIRE that I couldn't get enough of it..I wanted more and more and in between mouthfuls of FIRE pleasure I was knocking back the water, knocking back the banana milkshake(yes I couldnt resist!) and anything else I could get my hands on! Then the Thai Fries came out. They are regular fries but fried in a black pepper batter and served with a delicious sweet chilli sauce. Oh wow, my tastebuds were in pure heaven! And the great thing was that the fries only cost 40Baht (about 10yuan for those in China reading, and 70p for those in the West). The bill didnt come to more than 140Baht for food. Needless to say, we paid this place a visit nearly everyday!!! view from New Heaven Terrace by HAKUN Hey fellows this place is not managed by french chef and the business is not in your plate but in the view and surrounding ! From the shady terrace you have an amazing view on Ban Chalok Bay ! Food is both thai and european ! Service is not fast or great but the boss (a 50-60 yrs old lady) is very gentle... They also have cheap accomodation with almost the same view as the restaurant...
Chef Salad... nothing special but I liked it !!! Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Baan Chalok

No idea how they do it : a small place where the whole island goes for food ;-) They have a simple menu with sea food, chicken and pork as central theme. They bake, fry, shake, well, they do everything and the end result is incredibly good. I dare to say one of the best places in the world for food. And I regularly go to Micheling star restaurants ! And don't watch the price per person, you pay 2USD/2Eur for a meal !
Woeeeeee, very difficult : Breakfast : a fresh watermelon shake, a iced coffee (best in thailand), muesli with banana/pine apple/watermelon, and a banana shake to end with Noon : chicken sweet and sour, iced coffee, a shake Evening : sharing with Japanese : sweet and sour, fried shrimps, fresh fish, green curry, red curry, iced coffee, a couple of shakes. The restaurant is well staffed, you don;'t have to wait long for your food. I found that it was cheap if you selected the specials. The bar shows all western sporting events. Sells australian beer, toohey's and VB, which i would die without :-)

In our everlasting search for good expresso, we thought that we would try this place. Not only is the expresso good but that have a great range of fresh juice combinations. There is something for everyone here. Service with a smile. I haven't tried the food yet, but it smelt good.
