The Green Bar is part of a bungalow complex next to Banyan Tree Resort on the back road of Ton Sai. It's a great place for a quiet drink, and probably isn't the place to go if you're looking for a big night out. It makes a great place for a drink before dinner.
Dress Code: Casual.
Ao Nang was pretty quiet in my opinion and we didn't find much nightlife. But we did end up at the bar Planet Ao Nang a couple of times and we had cold beer in the warm sea breeze. We enjoyed Heiniken, Chang and Singha beer and it was pretty cheap :-) They played pretty good music while we were there and it was not too crowded.
Dress Code: The bar is on the boardwalk at the Ao Nang beach. I don't think that there was a dress code at this place.
What a fun place Rocky Bar turned out to be. The drinks are cheap, the staff are great fun and they have a couple of guys singing live.
You can request songs and they will try to sing them! Nothing is funnier than having a few drinks listening to Thai guys sing an Elvis song from a book that they have never sung before.
Angie and Di took over the place and everyone just loved their attempts at being stars!!
Highly recommend Rocky Bar for a fun filled night out. The bar is behing the shops in the general bar area on the beach rd Ao Nang.
Seems like everyone wants to see fire dancing. So here it is. This little kid learned to do this when he was only 4, he's now 5 and a seasoned expert (or so says his father...) but he seemed safe and confident. He was actually really good. But he can make some serious money doing this! I think he made in a about an hour or so what many adults make in a day there. Not a bad way to make some extra money.
The only active night life is to be found at the short strip at Ao Nang beach. It only has a few crowded bars as the place is not that developed yet. Besides, most travellers are more concerned about going to the beach and doing sea sports!
Dress Code: Very casual
Traveller Bar is a new modern bar to add to the Krabi nightlife, its a good place to meet other travellers whilst getting the cheapest drinks in ao nang, vodka redbull only 60 baht! The bar also sports, free pool, drunken twister! it has a full size twister board built on to the floor, It has an old school nintendo 64 in the bar to play on the big plasma screen, also funly chairs and the interactive duke box with so many tunes on. This bar is a must visit if you are in Krabi at ao nang beach.
Another popular nighttime hang-out on TonSai is the Andaman Nature Resort. Located next to the Green Bar, the Andaman has a nice restaurant and a more communal atmosphere. The music is generally Thai covers of western songs, but it's a fun place to hang out. If you're looking to party, though, this really isn't the place.
Dress Code: Casual. No shoes allowed.
This excellent bar is located next to where I was staying at the Grand Tower Hotel and is very laid back where you can lie out on the floor with your head propped up by a cushion or two whilst sipping a bottle of beer. The staff are a nice bunch of guys who bring your drinks to you whilst you chill out. There's a pool table, some seats outside on the road and the general atmosphere is a bit "U.S. college dude" with a lot of Red Hot Chilli Peppers type music thrown in for good measure.
