Along Aonang you can join a group tour for the 4 islands tour.
It only cost us 400 Bht per person, which includes snokel mask, life jacket, Lunch, drinks, watermelon, boat ride.
The trip is quite enjoyable however we joined a local group (group of 40) and the tour guide speaks 90% in Thai and only 10% in English to us.
so we didn't know whatever the tourguide explained.
You will be given losts of options for tours when you're in Krabi. We chose to do a 4 Island tour to Phi Phi Island.
A full day tour, we went on a speed boat and were taken to the various islands that make up Kho Phi Phi. The first stop was the beautiful Bamboo island with extremely white sand where we were given the opportunity to swim. The second island was Maya Island where the film the beach was filmed (not as nice as in the movie!), you also have an option to snorkel in Maya Bay. Next is a brief visit to Viking cave, then a stop for lunch at Phi Phi Don where you are served several dishes per table in a huge under cover marquee and are then given the chance to briefly explore the island. After lunch was purely snorkeling. We were able to snorkel off monkey beach over the reefs and then were taken to Hin Klarng which is a reef in the open sea.
The tour provided us with all snorkelling equipment, water and soft drink as fresh fruit and lunch. Well worth it! We bargained them down to 1000 Baht for the full day tour.
We booked this with Green Planet Tours based along the beach front for 800 Bahts each (by big boat) and it was well worth the money. Snorkel and mask included as well as a tastey lunch.
We were picked up at 8.30 from our hotel to the beach front where we were briefed and boarded the tour boat. There were only 12 or 13 people in the tour which was the perfect size. As we head for the first island we sat on the top deck and sun bathed all the way.
First island stop was Chicken Island/Ko Tup where we we able to snorkel for a bit round the shore. Next stop was Ko Si, where we jumped off the back of the boat and snorkelled around this small khast formation. Lunch was served onboard, a variety of Thai food, rice and fruit. Next was Ko Yawasam for more snorkelling. We saw clown fish, sea snakes, angel fish and many more. Someone claimed they saw a small shark too but who knows... Last stop was beautiful Ko Poda and its white powdery beaches.
Drinks are free all day and there is also a toilet on board.
We got back to Ao Nang around 17:00. The tour guy spoke perfect English and he clearly loved his job and his where he lived which made the tour even more enjoyable.
Tip: Take plenty of sun cream, my back was red raw after snorkelling all day.
Option of $450 THB by longtail boat for long rides returning about 5pm or $750 THB by speedboat for time-saver rides returning about 2 pm. Tour includes lunch, snorkelling equipments, water and hotel pickup.
4 island daily tour includes Tup island, Poda Island which has beautiful white sand bech with corals and fish for snorkelling, Chicken Island which has a rock spire that looks like a chicken head, and Pranang Cave which is attched to the main land easily accessible from Railey Bay. The tour drops you off in various places for sun bathing, snorkelling and lunch. Prices from 400 bahts up, depending the boat types, programs, and operators. See more pics of other islands.
Book this popular tour with one of the many travel agencies around Krabi. Hop-on to four different islands, three actually in reality, Poda island, Chicken island, and Tup island, with Phra-nang Cave part of Krabi mainland. We paid like 350 baht per person during the low season.
If you don't have much time, this might be a good suggestion: take a tour! I personally hate tours, because I like to check out everything on my own, and in my own time. But if you have only 1 or 2 days (like I had) this IS a good option. And almost for free.. There are a few tours around. Just check out some travelagencies or hotels in town. It's all well organised and it really doesn't matter where you book (as they all just call eachother to put you in the same van or boat...).
The tour I did was the 4 island tour. I was there end of March (the end of the season) so I was lucky it was only me and another girl on the tour. We visited 4 islands (duh...), enjoyed the beaches, sun and scenery and snorkled here and there. A good way to see the surroundings and relax a bit.
We went to a 4 islands tour on our second day in Krabi. The Islands we visited are : KOH DAM KHWAN & KOH MOR ISLAND, TALOO ISLAND, PODA ISLAND & PRA NANG BEACH
Beautiful beaches! & Snokerlling! & Rock Climbing!
300B inclusive of mask, snorkle, life jacket, fruits and lunch. The tour from Barracudas will take you to Koh Poda, Koh Tapoo, Koh Kai and Pra Nang.
This tour is available from all Ao Nang agents and hotels. We did the one from Barracuda tours. It cost just 300Baht for the whole day, water, half a pinneaple each (yummy!) and lunch (not so yummy).
