Krabi's walking street is best seen at weekends in the evening, the atmosphere is pleasant and not too pushy, lots of souvenirs can be picked up with some bartering needed obviously and some mouthwatering food.

All the shops selling the same articles, whether it be sports bags, bikinis or other clothes. All the restaurants selling the same food including loads of pizza places. The only thing here is that you'll get a better rate for your dollar or euro in the small exchange boutiques on the road up from the beach at the southern end leading towards McDonalds (Yes, there is one as well). Even the beach is not that good, two small areas given over for swimming and the rest for the longtail boats heading in and out all day. PLenty of agencies though for those trips to 4-Islands, Ko Lanta and up to James Bond Island. Possibility of negociating the prices, don't be afraid to, as most of these agencies use Barracuda tours, you're only taken a nibble out of their commission.
There are some great sunsets to be had as well.

This beautiful beach, surrounded by limestone cliffs is at the southern end of the Railey peninsula and was our last stop before heading back to Ao Nang and it really is lovely. Nice soft sand and turquoise waters, surprising really seeing the number of boats that come here during the day. Down at the southern tip of the beach is a large cave with a shrine dedicated to an ancient fertility goddess filled with phallic symbols and other objects supposedly to help with fertility problems. There is also Happy Island, a large limestone rock that you can walk out to at low tide. Need some food or drink ? No problem, from just before midday you have the choice from around 15 boats equipped with everything you fancy.
The beach can be reached also on foot from Railey East.

This is one of the smaller islands just off from Krabi included in the 4-island island hopping tour and is the loveliest. The beach is very small, no more than a large bump in the sea and is part of a 3-way sandbar between here, Ko Mor and Ko Poda islands which you can walk across at low tide. Please remember to take any rubbish back with you as it would be a shame to spoil the pristine waters around here.

The main island on a boat tour - Four Islands. Once again we negociated this down from 600 bath pp to 450. A small packed Paed Thai and water is included in the price. Lovely sand and lovely views, although the beach is not really wide enough for the amount of visitors. Loads of wild monkeys here and they are wild... I was pursued by the patriarch for getting too close to his kids.

A pleasant walk found us alongside the Tone-Tai waterfall, a little disappointing as there wasn't much flow. This didn't stop the local kids from enjoying themselves though, they had a pool to jump or dive into. A s there is some pristine jungle around here, some lovely beasts and flowers appeared that we hadn't seen before.

As part of the tour we visited the Monkey Cave temple where the principle attraction is the reclining buddha. I was actually blessed by a monk here and got the obligatory wrist-band. Monkeys galore here, all after one thing - foooood. But they do keep visitors amused. The cave is quite large inside and opens up into an area that, according to a plaque on the wall, various kings and queens have visited the temple for over 120 years.

This could be paradise, as seen in the James Bond film, " The man with the golden Gun". Now over 30 years on, as so many places, it is full of souvenir shops and the avid tourists that buy the rubbish that they sell. It is still possible though with a bit of climbing (and a bit of luck) to be able to take the famous rock (Ko Ta Pu) without anybody else in the frame. But don't let all this put you off, it really is a beautiful place.

Any hotel can organise this tour for you, although we did it ourselves by negociating down to 1000 bath each at an agents in Ao Nang. Of course you won't have a private tour at this price but it includes pick-up and drop-off at hotel, the meal at Ko Panyi and all admission prices to national park and, later to the Monkey cave temple and a (rather pitiful) waterfall. The main object of doing the tour though is Ko Ping Gan, aka James Bond Island, but cruising around these limestone rocks is really beautiful, very much like a miniature Halong Bay. And if you have a nice day as we did, it is well worth doing. Some people on our tour tour opted for the kayaking as well, but came back disappointed as they weren't allowed to paddle themselves.

Whilst being very picturesque from afar, this Muslim floating island is a real tourist trap. If you take a boat tour to Ko Ping Gan (James Bond Island) a stop here for a meal and visit will certainly be included. There are a good half-dozen restaurants lined up with roughly 4/500 places each catering to the tourist trade, and the quality of the meal shows it. On top of that there is no alcohol here and none must be taken onto the stilted island. After your meal, you are told you have a half-hour to visit, and of course the whole place is full of souvenir shops. The salespeople are not at all aggressive, but what was certainly a very pretty place has been taken over almost exclusively for the tourists (although of course I am one) and their supposed needs.
Some tour companies offer a homestay here.
