Downtown Phattalung frm Pimalai Cave Temple

Pimalai Cave is away from downtown Patthalung. The cave is actually non-accesible anymore because of eroison. It is closed for now. However, it's worth to come up to the cave entrance and walk to the temple next to the parking lot. From the temple, you will be able to get a panoramic view of Patthalung. The temple has a replica of the Emerald Buddha. It is bigger than the real Emerald Buddha in Bangkok.

From the temple, visitors can go to the back and there is a nature's walk that leads to a village down the hill.

Look careful! These are mouths of cat fish!

This village is located at the foot of the hill at the back of Pimalai Cave. From Pimalai Cave entrance or the temple, walk to the back and follow the steps/ trail down. You will reach this small village. The main attraction of the village is a natural pond that is full of BIG cat fish! You can buy fish food from the booth 5bath each. Once you throw the food in the pond, the fish will emerge. So many of them! One small bag of fish food doesn't seem to be enough!!

Nice lake

Lampan beach is a nice area to spend your evening before sunset. The lake is Songkla Lake. This is a big lake that looks almost endless. This is an area where people come to stroll and enjoy the breeze. It has a relaxed atmosphere here.

Yes, you guess it, Songkhla is on the other side of the lake.

Thale Noi Lake
1 more image

Thale Noi is the most popular attraction of Phattalung. It is located at the northern tip of Songkla Lake. Thale Noi is famous for birdwatching and its water lilies. Take a boat ride to enjoy the tranquility of the lake. Make sure you get to the lake early morning as the water lilies close their flowers after 10am. Take a boat from the park headquarters cost TB400 per boat. The boat fits 6 persons.

At Thale Noi Park Headquarters there are pavilions on stilts. It is kind of nice to have picnic under the shade while the breeze blows. There are exhibition of fish from the lake, conference room, toilet and shower at the park headquarter. One of the princesses has a summer retreat built for her to birdwatch. Best bird watching season: December to June.

Entrance ticket to Park HQ for Thai people: TB10 per person, for foreigner: TB100 per person. If you ask me, it's not worth going there for foreigner.
