Take a bike and explore the surroundings of your hotel. In my case I took a mountain bike in the hotel and rode to a small waterfall a couple of kilometers away from Panwa Beach Resort (I guess, you can also reach it from Cape Panwa Hotel). Warning: if you do it, then do it either in the morning or after 4 pm, otherwise you'll end with a sunstroke. And take a bottle of water with you. And a camera! Cause most probably you will see some interesting views. Warning 2: I wouldn't risk riding a motorbike in Thailand.

Exotic animals: See the beasts you've never seen before!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Take a flashlight and walk on the beach at night. It was a fascinating experience for me and my friends. Try not to make much noise, and you can make a few discoveries! I believe the crab in the picture is a hermit crab, but even if it's not, isn't it a beauty?

We paid 1600 baht each for 4 for a full day island hopping tour. The price includes hotel transfer, lunch, ferry service, unlimited refreshments onboard, snorkelling equipment and of course gorgeous beaches to frolick at. Compare this with the hotel reservation at 2800 baht and you will cry if you didn't shop around first. Form as big a group as you can and bargain for your money's worth. Singapore is worried that we are losing out on the tourism pie. In Singapore, just a 2 way ferry for the same 45 minutes to nearby Indonesia's Bintan island resort cost about 1250 baht before taxes. No wonder Phuket attract millions of tourists every year.

Villages and Beaches: Chalong Bay During Sunset
  • Tip Rating:
  • Chalong Bay is a set off point for island hopping tourists. There are ferries and boats going to Phi Phi Islan and James Bond Island on a timely basis. Coral Island and other the nearby islands in phuket are also available by long tailed boats or speed boats.

Villages and Beaches: Laem Singh Beach
  • Tip Rating:
  • Located, just 1 kilometer North of Kamala Beach, on the scenic route. There are 2 entrance to the beach, quite hard to notice if you are not femilier with the place. The best way is looking for area that packed with moterbikes. You have to pay 20 bath for entrance fee and parking. The walk to the beach is quite serene, there are lush vegetation along the way. The walk is about 900 meters downhill. There are beachchair and umbrella for rent, they are not for free. A set of beachchair and umbrella is about 150 bath per time. It doesn't matter how long, so make sure that you leave your beach towel or something on your chair just to make sure that you will not be charged twice. North-end of the beach have a make-use shower from natural spring above. There are several small restaurants that serve simply food and drinks. Prices are quite high but not that excessive. So Next time you are in Phuket and fry to find secluded beach to sunbathing, this is your place.

    Laem Hin
  • Tip Rating:
  • Its the far place in the east coast of the island, Laem Hin port. I went there, actually to have a seafood meal at Laem Hin restaurant. The place is natural, its also a pier to get a boat to some small islands nearby, such as Koh Rang Yai island, Koh Rang Noi island to see pearl farm there ...

Relax for an afternoon at Bang Wat Dam
  • Tip Rating:
  • Bang Wat Dam is the main water source for Phuket and is nestled in a valley of green. It is extremely picturesque and relaxing. Locals gather here for an afternoon nap or family time. You can buy the famous and extremely delicious pork kebabs, freshly cooked, fragrant and tasty to snack on while you lay on the grass or walk around the park area. There isn't really anything to do here but to look at a very pretty spot and take some time out. Great for a picnic or romantic interlude, but if it gets late, don't forget your mosquito spray. I didn't see any drinks for sale, so if you think you may want a water - take one with you. A good idea to take wet wipes with you to clean up any sticky fingers from the pork kebabs too!

    Villages and Beaches: Freedom beach
  • Tip Rating:
  • It is a really small beach that you can reach only by boat, when in Patong beach ask some of the guys near the small boats on the seaside to bring you there and then agree with them the time they come and pick you up. You will find a really desert beach( at least it was desert a couple of years ago), white sand and incredible water.

    Jimmy's Lighthouse Bar and Grill
  • Tip Rating:
  • Jimmy's Lighthouse Bar and Grill is a great, cosy bar/restaurant filled with nostalgic character. It is located in the lighthouse at Chalong Bay with full views of the bay, uninterrupted by windows. The walls are covered with photos that add to the atmosphere. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is pretty good. They serve both Thai and western food at great prices. I've had a few breakfasts here before going out for a day's sailing, also just had some drinks and even been to a birthday party. It is always fun, friendly and very reasonable. It is the watering and feeding hole for many yachties, so like the Ao Chalong Yacht Club, is filled with regulars. Try it if you get the chance. Early morning is busy or evenings 'though it's open all day. Entertainment includes a satellite tv and pool table, including competitions. Check the website link below. Jimmy's is located right on the bay, Kata Road, Chalong Circle.
