    Food Courts: Food Courts

We were going to eat at a restaurant for lunch, but then we spotted over the road from a huge mall in Patong, so decided to try that instead.

The place was clean and tidy, and there were all kinds of foods on offer, at really low prices.

The strange thing was that you had to buy Coupons before you order so you can pay, and not knowing what we wanted, it made it a bit hard, so we ordered our half dozen small dishes at the counter, and when the waitress told us how much it was, we gave her the money instead of going back for coupons.

She then went and got the coupons for us. Im not sure why they do this, maybe they don't trust anyone with money and it's a great way of keeping a check on everything that gets purchased. I don't know, but it must work.

Anyway, the food was really cheap, and really tasty, and we would eat in a food court here again.

    Swensens: Average ice cream

by HebaM Written Feb 15, 2014

I noticed that Swensens is all over Thailand, it's in every mall. I went to the one in Phuket town as it was close to my hostel that's why I decided to give it a shot. The place is nice and the staff are very polite and smiling, they offer you a glass of water upon your arrival even before ordering, service is quick but the ice cream sadly is nothing special just O.K, price is reasonable

The Beach Bar 2 Restaurant - Lay Phung Beach: The Beach Bar 2 Restaurant - Lay Phung Beach

The Beach 2 Restaurant - Lay Phung Beach
    4 more images

The Beach 2 Restaurant is at Lay Phung beach which is in between Bang Tao Beach & Layan Beach, past the Laguna Hotels.

This is a fantastic restaurant with the freshest seafood, great prices and away from the hustle and bustle. So if you want to eat somewhere different that is nice, quiet and the perfect spot to watch one of Phukets beautiful sunsets, then the Beach Restaurant 2 is the place to go.

Our favorite dishes here are Sea Bass with garlic and pepper sauce, Sea Bass with chili sauce and the best seafood Tom Yum we have ever tasted.

The owner Joop is a lovely friendly man who is full of advice with regards to their menu. Mit from Patong Tattoo has recently opened a beautiful bar with a Tattoo Studio next door to The Beach 2 Restaurant which is starting to become very popular. It is called Beach Bar 2 @ Ink Tattoo.

    Nicky's Handlebar
    4 more images

Nicky's Handlebar would have to be the friendliest place in Phuket to call in to for a drink or meal.
We have been to Nicky's so many times over the past 10 years and they definitely have the best staff who make everyone feel so very welcome.

Kai the manager and Nicky will always make an effort to come up and introduce themselves to everyone. Nicky's Handlebar is suitable for all age groups.
Another bonus is there are no working girls, beggars or street sellers allowed in at all, so you can enjoy your time there without being hassled.

The drinks are icy cold and a lot cheaper than most places, they have a fantastic chef, all meals are beautifully presented, delicious and very well priced.

Try their Musaman curry, its one of the best and another favorite is the Penang chicken curry pizza.

The most expensive dish on the menu is imported fillet steak with pepper sauce, this is absolutely mouth watering, perfectly cooked and the best pepper sauce we have ever had.

Nicky's caters to the most fussy eaters, so if there is something you would like and it is not on the menu, just ask and they will cook it for you!

Its always sad to say goodbye to these great guys as they are now like family to us and we will certainly be spending a lot of time there again next visit.

While your there have a look at Nicky's Harley showroom, there are some pretty impressive bikes there. If you want to hire a Harley just ask Nicky or Kai but make sure you have an International Drivers Permit with full bike license. Nicky's Handlebar also has Harley tours on offer ranging from half day Phuket tours to 1 and 2 day tours off the island.

Nicky's Handlebar Hotel is also now open. The decor in each room is different and influenced by Harley themes. The hotel is complemented with a large L shaped swimming pool including Jacuzzi and landscaped gardens.

There are a lot more photos and information on the link below of some of the delicious meals we have had at Nickys Handlebar.

    Sabai Corner: Sabai Corner

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Feb 5, 2014
    Sabai Corner
    4 more images

Sabai Corner is a beautiful bar and restaurant that only opened in May 2011. It is just past Kata Noi and the Kata Viewpoint on the road down to Siam Beach.

Our good friend Chaini always dreamt of building his own special place and finally it has happened. It is now our favorite place to visit for dinner a few drinks and to relax.

This is not your normal small bar found everywhere in Phuket. This place is huge, everything is quality here from the massive solid wood bar, to the beautiful animal carvings and reupholstered old tables and chairs. There are plants and flowers everywhere and subtle colored lighting at night, but what makes this place stand out are the sensational views.

Sabai Corner is surrounded on three sides by jungle and then in front of you are fantastic views of the ocean. It is a very quiet peaceful place and perfect to watch one of Phuket's stunning sunsets.

Sabai Corner restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, they also have a good drinks menu which includes many cocktails, prices are also excellent!

This would also be the perfect place if you want to have a party, reception or even a marriage proposal.

No expense has been spared here; even the separate men’s and women’s toilets are nice and spotlessly clean!

Chaini can also organize transfers so give him a ring on +66848419794

Sabai Corner is about a 20 minute drive from Patong.

Sole Mio Bar and Restaurant is in the Loma Park Food Complex on Patong Beach, it is the last restaurant at the beach end. We have had many meals here and everything we ordered was delicious, the service was fantastic with very helpful, friendly staff , drinks are icy cold and the food was delicious!

The meals and drinks are a little bit more expensive than most of the restaurants in Loma Food Park but it is well worth a visit.

Sole Mio also has a lovely beach bar lounge area next door to the restaurant where you can also order meals. Great spot for people watching

    Natural Restaurant

What a place this is, from the moment you walk in its definitely different. There's greenery and hanging baskets everywhere, lots of different levels and sections to sit, old wooden furniture, water features, hanging rusting utensils.

Then there's all the fish tanks, but these are amazing, the fish are inside computer and television sets.

I think we had about 10 different dishes, fish, chicken, raw prawns, (I had 2 and they were good with the dipping sauce) frog (the whole frog chopped up)
Prices are very cheap as well.

This restaurant is so unique and beautiful, we have seen nothing else like it in Phuket before.

Its an absolute must if you are in Phuket.

Laem Hin Seafood: Laem Hin Seafood

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Feb 1, 2014

    Laem Hin Seafood
    4 more images

Laem Hin Seafood is a very popular restaurant on Phuket’s East Coast. It is opposite Koh Maphrao and about a 5 minute drive from Thepkrasattri Road. We have eaten here quite a few times over the years and the food is authentic, fresh, tasty and cheap.

The restaurant is partially built out over the water; don’t forget some mosquito spray though they do put mozzie candles under the tables. The furniture is basic, plastic chairs and tables badly in need of painting but the food more than makes up for this.

Laem Hin Seafood is very popular with Thai families so that says a lot about the quality and price. Most definitely worth a visit.

We have had many lunches at Wine Connection in Jungceylon shopping centre and Central Festival shopping centre and I was quite surprised at the prices as we expected their meals and drinks to be very expensive which they were not.

Most of the meals we have had there have been delicious. Service is usually quick and always with a smile. Though we did notice a lot of new staff so sometimes things were a bit slow.

Their salads are also very good especially the Tuna and Caesar Salads.
Would definitely recommend having a meal here.

No. 9 Restaurant: No. 9 Restaurant

    Number 9 restaurant 100baht
    4 more images

Number 9 restaurant would have to be up there among our favorite restaurants in the Patong area. We have enjoyed every meal we have had there, prices are great for food and drinks plus the staff are wonderful.

The restaurant is on Phra Barami Road opposite the Patong Paragon Hotel.

If your walking there from Rat-u-Thit Road keep walking north to the end of the road then turn left towards the beach, No. 9 is halfway down on your left.

Try their crepes and ice-cream, its delicious, the crepe is wrapped like a bow with ice-cream in the middle and lashings of chocolate sauce and whipped cream, all for 100 baht!

Thai meals range from 100 - 125baht, a beer will cost you 70baht and a spirits and mix 90baht.

There is also a good selection of European and Western meals.

Sabai Beach Restaurant: Sabai Beach Restaurant

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 31, 2014
    Sabai Beach Restaurant
    4 more images

We have been eating at Sabai Beach Restaurant regularly for many years now and it is one of our all time favorites in Phuket, it is also so nice to see the same staff working there year after year.

The restaurant is in a fantastic location and you can sit inside or outside with the sand between your toes.

There is mainly Thai food on the menu and average prices are 120baht, drinks are very cheap as well.  Sabai Beach Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is a lovely way to start the day sitting there watching the fishermen on Patong Beach.

If you walk north along the beach about 5 minutes walk past Bangla Rd there are 3 restaurants in a row on the beach. Mai Tai restaurant, Chez Bernard's & Sabai Beach, they are all good restaurants but Sabai Beach is our favorite.

Kan Eang 2: Kan Eang 2 - Chalong Bay

    Kan Eang 2
    4 more images

The food at Kan Eang 2 is amazing, very fresh and tasty with excellent prices. We have eaten here many times now over the years and it has never disappointed. The setting is lovely, right by the water at Chalong and it is a good place for children as well to run around & play.

Kan Eang 2 is set in a huge area with plenty of little seating sections in the open or undercover, there is a golf cart for the elderly or disabled to take you down to the seating areas and there is also entertainment at night.

A funny little incident on our last visit was we thought there was a translation error in the menu; we mistook deep fried tendon chicken with chili sauce as being chicken tender loins. The dish looked great, small pieces of chicken etc so I piled my spoon up and had a mouthful – shock horror it was actually the tendons of chicken, very hard and gristly, so that dish was quickly pushed aside!

We highly recommend Kan Eang 2 for lunch or dinner.

Two Chef's: Two Chef's Kata Beach

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 31, 2014
    Two Chef's Kata Beach
    4 more images

We have eaten at Two Chef’s quite a few times now and wonder why it took us so many years to try them. The menu is very extensive, prices are reasonable and the serves are big. We stay in Phuket for half the year so sometimes I crave a good serve of potatoes and vegetables, Two Chef’s certainly delivers.

Every meal we have had at Two Chef's has been delicious and the steaks cooked perfectly - that is until our last visit. We were a group of 8 and I had highly recommended Two Chef's to by sister and brother in law. The entrees were good but 3 steak dishes had to be sent back. Mine and my brother in laws were stone cold and my sisters medium to well done steak was extremely rare.

So we were very disappointed. Two Chef's did supply the 8 of us with free Meringue Swiss Ice Cream desserts as an apology.

Having said that, we would still go back to Two Chef's as this is the first time anything like this has happened over many fantastic meals there.

The dessert menu is amazing, make sure you try the Meringue Swiss Ice Cream which is meringue, chocolate sauce and cream, just order one and share as it is huge!

Two Chef’s Bar and Grill have a few locations on Phuket Island, the one we like to go to is on Koktanod Rd at Kata Beach.

Horn Grill Steakhouse: Horn Grill Steakhouse

    Horn Grill Steakhouse
    4 more images

The Horn Grill Steakhouse in Kata is separated into four different sections. There is a street level outside terrace, an inside Bistro area, a lovely Jazz dining room and our favorite, the outside patio area which looks very pretty at night with all the fairy lights.

We would have to say that the best steak we have ever had in Thailand was at the Horn Grill Steakhouse. The four of us all ordered our steaks cooked differently, rare, medium rare, medium and medium well done and they were all cooked to perfection.

Service is excellent, prices are good, the setting is lovely and the food is delicious. Another bonus is all the beef is imported from Australia so it is fantastic quality. Our entrees were also delicious.

Another night that we went to Horn Grill no one was really hungry so we just ordered some quick snacks. The bill for the snacks for 4 of us was 2450baht; this also included a glass of wine, bacardi and 4 beers.  For the sort of restaurant this is the prices are very good.

So we highly recommend Horn Grill Steak House and we are looking forward to our next visit.

    Nikitas Rawai Beach
    4 more images

We have been going to Nikitas regularly now for quite a few years, the location is perfect, on the beachfront of Rawai beach. No matter how hot it is this is the perfect spot for cooling down underneath the beautiful trees with a nice sea breeze.

The menu is extensive, try their Thai style fried rice with sweetened pork, it is delicious. The food is always fresh & the staff are very good. About the only meal I would not recommend is their breakfast, very small for the price.

Prices are a little bit higher than average but it is worth it just for the lovely setting. Actually no need to keep going on about how good Nikitas is, most people already know so I will just add photos of some of their meals.

Make sure you check out their ice cream menu as well, it’s one of the best!
