Sole Mio Bar & Restaurant: Sole Mio Bar & Restaurant

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Feb 4, 2014

Sole Mio Bar and Restaurant is in the Loma Park Food Complex on Patong Beach, it is the last restaurant at the beach end. We have had many meals here and everything we ordered was delicious, the service was fantastic with very helpful, friendly staff , drinks are icy cold and the food was delicious!

The meals and drinks are a little bit more expensive than most of the restaurants in Loma Food Park but it is well worth a visit.

Sole Mio also has a lovely beach bar lounge area next door to the restaurant where you can also order meals. Great spot for people watching

    Natural Restaurant: Natural Restaurant

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Feb 1, 2014

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

What a place this is, from the moment you walk in its definitely different. There's greenery and hanging baskets everywhere, lots of different levels and sections to sit, old wooden furniture, water features, hanging rusting utensils.

Then there's all the fish tanks, but these are amazing, the fish are inside computer and television sets.

I think we had about 10 different dishes, fish, chicken, raw prawns, (I had 2 and they were good with the dipping sauce) frog (the whole frog chopped up)
Prices are very cheap as well.

This restaurant is so unique and beautiful, we have seen nothing else like it in Phuket before.

Its an absolute must if you are in Phuket.

Laem Hin Seafood: Laem Hin Seafood

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Feb 1, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Laem Hin Seafood is a very popular restaurant on Phuket’s East Coast. It is opposite Koh Maphrao and about a 5 minute drive from Thepkrasattri Road. We have eaten here quite a few times over the years and the food is authentic, fresh, tasty and cheap.

The restaurant is partially built out over the water; don’t forget some mosquito spray though they do put mozzie candles under the tables. The furniture is basic, plastic chairs and tables badly in need of painting but the food more than makes up for this.

Laem Hin Seafood is very popular with Thai families so that says a lot about the quality and price. Most definitely worth a visit.

Wine Connection Jungceylon Shopping Centre: Wine Connection Jungceylon Shopping Centre

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 31, 2014

We have had many lunches at Wine Connection in Jungceylon shopping centre and Central Festival shopping centre and I was quite surprised at the prices as we expected their meals and drinks to be very expensive which they were not.

Most of the meals we have had there have been delicious. Service is usually quick and always with a smile. Though we did notice a lot of new staff so sometimes things were a bit slow.

Their salads are also very good especially the Tuna and Caesar Salads.
Would definitely recommend having a meal here.

No. 9 Restaurant: No. 9 Restaurant

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 31, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Number 9 restaurant would have to be up there among our favorite restaurants in the Patong area. We have enjoyed every meal we have had there, prices are great for food and drinks plus the staff are wonderful.

The restaurant is on Phra Barami Road opposite the Patong Paragon Hotel.

If your walking there from Rat-u-Thit Road keep walking north to the end of the road then turn left towards the beach, No. 9 is halfway down on your left.

Try their crepes and ice-cream, its delicious, the crepe is wrapped like a bow with ice-cream in the middle and lashings of chocolate sauce and whipped cream, all for 100 baht!

Thai meals range from 100 - 125baht, a beer will cost you 70baht and a spirits and mix 90baht.

There is also a good selection of European and Western meals.

Kan Eang 2: Kan Eang 2 - Chalong Bay

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 31, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The food at Kan Eang 2 is amazing, very fresh and tasty with excellent prices. We have eaten here many times now over the years and it has never disappointed. The setting is lovely, right by the water at Chalong and it is a good place for children as well to run around & play.

Kan Eang 2 is set in a huge area with plenty of little seating sections in the open or undercover, there is a golf cart for the elderly or disabled to take you down to the seating areas and there is also entertainment at night.

A funny little incident on our last visit was we thought there was a translation error in the menu; we mistook deep fried tendon chicken with chili sauce as being chicken tender loins. The dish looked great, small pieces of chicken etc so I piled my spoon up and had a mouthful – shock horror it was actually the tendons of chicken, very hard and gristly, so that dish was quickly pushed aside!

We highly recommend Kan Eang 2 for lunch or dinner.

Two Chef's: Two Chef's Kata Beach

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 31, 2014

We have eaten at Two Chef’s quite a few times now and wonder why it took us so many years to try them. The menu is very extensive, prices are reasonable and the serves are big. We stay in Phuket for half the year so sometimes I crave a good serve of potatoes and vegetables, Two Chef’s certainly delivers.

Every meal we have had at Two Chef's has been delicious and the steaks cooked perfectly - that is until our last visit. We were a group of 8 and I had highly recommended Two Chef's to by sister and brother in law. The entrees were good but 3 steak dishes had to be sent back. Mine and my brother in laws were stone cold and my sisters medium to well done steak was extremely rare.

So we were very disappointed. Two Chef's did supply the 8 of us with free Meringue Swiss Ice Cream desserts as an apology.

Having said that, we would still go back to Two Chef's as this is the first time anything like this has happened over many fantastic meals there.

The dessert menu is amazing, make sure you try the Meringue Swiss Ice Cream which is meringue, chocolate sauce and cream, just order one and share as it is huge!

Two Chef’s Bar and Grill have a few locations on Phuket Island, the one we like to go to is on Koktanod Rd at Kata Beach.

Nikitas Rawai Beach: Nikitas Rawai Beach

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 5, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We have been going to Nikitas regularly now for quite a few years, the location is perfect, on the beachfront of Rawai beach. No matter how hot it is this is the perfect spot for cooling down underneath the beautiful trees with a nice sea breeze.

The menu is extensive, try their Thai style fried rice with sweetened pork, it is delicious. The food is always fresh & the staff are very good. About the only meal I would not recommend is their breakfast, very small for the price.

Prices are a little bit higher than average but it is worth it just for the lovely setting. Actually no need to keep going on about how good Nikitas is, most people already know so I will just add photos of some of their meals.

Make sure you check out their ice cream menu as well, it’s one of the best!

    Kroktong Restaurant: Kroktong Restaurant

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 25, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Croktong Restaurant is a fantastic little place that has mainly Issan food on their menu. They only opened in August 2013 and are on Prabaramee Rd opposite the school before Patong Hill. Just look for the huge gold mortar and pestle. The restaurant is owned and run by a very good friend of ours and her sister who moved from Bangkok.

The food is delicious, very well priced and extremely popular with Thai’s, so if you would like to try proper Thai food that is not toned down for tourist tastes then this is the place to go. If you are there at the right time of year you might also be lucky to have a taste of some very expensive Bee Larvae!

Make sure you try the Pepper Prawn dish, it is sensational.

Paradise Viewpoint Restaurant: Paradise Viewpoint Restaurant

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 3, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Well what can I say about Paradise Viewpoint Restaurant except that we were told last year not to bother going there as the food was terrible. I do not believe everything I hear and like to make my own mind up, but sad to say they were right.

The location is lovely perched on the cliff just past Kalim on the way to Kamala. We went there for lunch and as soon as we walked in we were recommended to try the fresh fish by the waitress. We sat down and asked for a menu, and then another person came over and advised us to have fish.

We were not interested in ordering any seafood etc so ordered a Beef Massaman curry, Chicken in curry sauce, Tempura prawns and drinks.

Straight away I am off to a bad start, my Cha Yen (Thai ice tea with milk) was shocking, it was like no other Cha Yen I have had before and believe me I have had thousands. Paradise Viewpoint also have my vote for the worst ever Beef Mussaman curry, it had about 6 tiny paper thin slices of beef and was extremely watery with absolutely no taste.

Gary’s Chicken in curry sauce was ordered very spicy, it was a tiny serve with no spice at all, so bland. Lucky for us the Tempura prawns were edible. Their basic Thai meals are quite expensive with our bill being 690baht for the 3 dishes, 1 small Singha and 1 Cha Yen.

We were so disappointed with the food and will definitely not be going back.

Kata Mama Seafood: Kata Mama Seafood

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 3, 2013

Kata Mama Seafood is quite a large restaurant at the southern end of Kata Beach. It is extremely popular with tourists due to the location on the beach. We have only eaten lunch here and it was ok, nothing special just ok.

Service can be quite slow and it can take many times to try and interrupt staff talking to one another, but once your order is taken the food comes out quickly.

I would not go out of my way to go to Kata Mama, but if I was on the beach and hungry then I would order from there.

Bang Pae Seafood: Bang Pae Seafood

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 2, 2013

Bang Pae Seafood is located in a beautiful setting on the edge of a mangrove forest with lots of shady trees and views of the ocean. It is also very popular on the weekends with Thai families as the food is delicious and the area is perfect to let children run around and play.

This is the sort of place that as soon as you sit down, you relax and just take in the views. The menu has a huge selection and there are also local dishes if you do not like seafood. The 4 dishes in my photos plus 5 no alcohol drinks came to 660baht.

Bang Pae Seafood is the perfect place for lunch but you will need a car or transport to get there. At the Heroines Monument turn off and drive towards Ao Por. After about 10 kilometers you will see the sign for the restaurant on your right.

Follow this road for a couple of minutes to the end and there is Bang Pae Restaurant. There is also plenty of car parking out the front of the restaurant.

Wai Thai Restaurant - Patong Beach: Wai Thai Restaurant - Patong Beach

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 2, 2013

Wai Thai Restaurant is one of the many restaurants that are in the Loma Park Complex on the beach road heading towards the northern end of Patong Beach. The staff are lovely, very happy and friendly; location is nice for dinner and for watching the sunset but can be very hot during the day.

Service is very good and they make a perfect drink. Average price for 4 people which included 4 main courses, 3 entrées, a large seafood fried rice, 4 beers and 4 vodkas was 1870baht.

Our prawns were very average but the rest of the food was delicious.

Dons Barbeque: Best bbq in Phuket!!

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 1, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Every Saturday and Sunday at 6pm there is a fantastic barbeque on Nanai Rd at a place called Don’s BBQ. It is all you can eat for 249baht and there is a huge selection of meats such as delicious tender pork chops, spare ribs, sausages, chicken kebabs and sometimes even seafood and steaks.

We have eaten here a few times and it is most definitely the best barbeque place we have been to in Phuket. There is a huge variety of fresh salads including potato dishes such as mashed, chips and potato bake. We were so happy to see vegetables as well especially broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts as I was starting to crave a good veggie fix.

Don has really cornered the market with his bbq nights and there is something here to please everyone. The meat is tender and cooked to perfection! Drinks are well priced with a Singha costing 70baht and spirits 100baht. There is a good Thai selection as well.

Don’s BBQ is at the south end of Nanai Rd Patong in front of Makro and of course we highly recommend their barbeques.

Baan Kalim: Seafood at Patong beach with great view

by saleemg Written Jun 21, 2013

Nice ambience with great location right on the beach with waves splashing next to you! Restaurant serves good variety of seafood with grill and fried dishes at reasonable price. The setting is quite decent, with good service.

We tried the crabs cooked in different styles, Tomyam soup and prawn starters. We found the prawns bit stale although the restaurant staff assured us that all seafood was "fresh". Perhaps it was fresh when they procured it, but am unsure how long it stayed in the freezer!

Those seeking Halal food, please notify the restaurant staff in advance, so they can prepare the food in separate utensils, as the Restaurant also serves pork products.

    Favorite Dish: Chilli crab
