Sole Mio Bar & Restaurant: Sole Mio Bar & Restaurant

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 8, 2015

Sole Mio Bar and Restaurant is in the Loma Park Food Complex on Patong Beach, it is the last restaurant at the beach end. We have had many meals here and everything we ordered was delicious, the service was fantastic with very helpful, friendly staff , drinks are icy cold and the food was delicious!

The meals and drinks are a little bit more expensive than most of the restaurants in Loma Food Park but it is well worth a visit.

Sole Mio also has a lovely beach bar lounge area next door to the restaurant where you can also order meals. Great spot for people watching

    UPDATE
We have had many meals here over the last few years and everything we ordered was delicious, except for our last visit!

Service was shocking, the staff was too busy standing around talking, only part of our order arrived and once we could get their attention they said sorry they did not order it.

So another 20 minutes later it finally arrived, it was not worth the wait, the bruschetta was terrible.
Such a shame as this place has been so good over the years.

Thai Smile - Patong: Thai Smile - Patong

    by Cathy&Gary Written Jan 8, 2015

Thai Smile is a very small restaurant and bar which is in Soi Eden opposite the Eden Family Mart. They have been around for many years but before it was only a bar. Now it has been rebuilt, has a restaurant and is getting very popular.

The staff are friendly, the menu has a lot of choices, service is quick, the prices are very cheap for drinks and meals and the food is good. Our meals for 2 plus alcohol drinks were 370baht.

We will definitely go back to Thai Smile again.

Irish Times - Jungceylon: Irish Times - Jungceylon

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 8, 2015

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Irish Times has a similar menu and prices to Molly Malone's, so is more expensive than most places as they also add on taxes.

It is pot luck with the food here, sometimes it is ok, sometimes it is terrible. Their baguettes are delicious but the Potato & Leek soup was very tasteless)

The first breakfast was we had was delicious but the next time it was terrible, undercooked bacon and everything was cold!

Another meal I tried was the Bangers and Mash, I was having a craving for some comfort food and this did not hit the spot, the sausages were horrible!

I did get a bit worried when I ordered a chicken ceaser salad and they asked what sort of dressing did I want with it and then it eventually came out swamped in dressing so was extremely soggy. Not nice, however the BLT was very good.

Happy Hour is from 1pm to 6pm

The Irish Times Pub is in the square (outside area) at Jungceylon shopping centre. I would not class it as a must do favorite of ours but if your in the area its good for a drink stop and more importantly they have fantastic clean toilets with loads of toilet paper.

Mom Tri's Kitchen: Mom Tri's Kitchen

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 1, 2015

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Mom Tri's Kitchen is an award winning restaurant which is consistently ranked as one of Phuket's finest restaurants. The setting is beautiful and the restaurant is situated within Mom Tri's Villa Royale on the cliff overlooking Kata Noi Beach. The views are sensational, but views alone do not make a fantastic restaurant.

The food is amazing; there are 2 menus, one Thai and one European plus there are 2 executive chefs. What more could you ask for, the best of both worlds.

There is also an extensive wine cellar with wines from around the world including organic wines and happy hour with 50% off beer and cocktails is from 6pm -7pm.

We have actually lost count of the amount of times we have had meals at Mom Tri's Kitchen, some of these dinners were for birthdays or anniversary's and one was to celebrate an engagement, though we will use any excuse to go there!

I do not have a favorite meal here but I do have a weakness for an entrée called Kata Noi Crab Cakes, it is so hard not to order them every time. The staff are very efficient, helpful and make a mean Screwdriver (cocktail) if your there for Happy Hour 6pm – 7pm at the bar they are half price!

Another nice touch when leaving Mom Tri's Kitchen is you are given a long stemmed red rose!!

Mom Tri's Kitchen is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or just to relax with a drink and watch the sunset. There is also a piano player playing background music and he loves playing requests.

We highly recommend a visit to Mom Tri’s Kitchen and the prices for a restaurant of such caliber are excellent! It is a firm favorite of ours and the perfect place for a special occasion.

Wine Connection Central Festival Shopping Centre: Wine Connection Central Festival Shopping Centre

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Jan 1, 2015

We have had quite a few lunches at Wine Connection in Jungceylon and Central Festival shopping centers but I have to say the Central branch is far superior to the one in Jungceylon.

Prices are reasonable and service is usually quick and with a smile.

Their salads are good especially the Tuna or Caesar salads. Also if you have picky eaters with you as for sure there will be something on the menu they would eat.

Tantawan Seafood Patong Beach: Tantawan Seafood Patong Beach

    by Cathy&Gary Written Jan 1, 2015

We usually do not eat at seafood restaurants along the beach road but many years ago we did have a nice meal at Tantawan Seafood Restaurant. So one night we were walking past and decided it was time to eat here again.

They have a huge selection of seafood including platters on display so I chose the Seafood Platter for 2 which was 2,600baht. This platter included lobster, oysters, squid, crabs and prawns then you have it cooked any way you like.

All I can say is all the food was delicious and my lobster thermidor was perfect. Service was also fast and friendly. There is good entertainment with a Filipino band that will play requests and Wednesdays nights there is an Elvis show.

Tantawan Seafood is part of the Thara Patong Beach Resort Patong on the Beach Rd has a huge selection of food from seafood to Thai and caters for all budgets.

Table Spoon Restaurant Home Pro Village Chalong: Table Spoon Restaurant Home Pro Village Chalong

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 14, 2014

I am in two minds on what to think about Table Spoon restaurant. We sat outside for lunch and ordered 3 dishes and some drinks. The drinks arrived quickly and my Cha Yen was perfect. The meals seemed to take forever and then only 2 of them turned up.

We kept thinking it would arrive but after another 15 minutes and once we could finally get someone’s attention they said they forgot it.

What we did have was nice and they have some very different style salads on the menu but the day we went service was virtually nonexistent and it was not busy at all.

Maybe they were just having a bad day!

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 14, 2014

We have only been to the Flints One Bakery at Rawai Beach and there is really not much more I can say about this place except they have been around for years and the food is excellent.

We will often drive from Patong to Rawai just to buy their fresh croissants and cake. Friendly staff, delicious food and good prices.

Eden Bungalows Restaurant: Eden Bungalows Restaurant

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 7, 2014

Eden Bungalows Restaurant is in Soi Eden, the little lane that runs down the side of Gracelands Hotel. This place has really lifted its game in regards to their meals.

We had actually stopped going there a few years back but decided to give it another try. What a difference, the meals are now a decent size, tasty and well priced.

Service is great with happy helpful staff and they make the best milkshakes.

About the only thing they could do now to make it even better is to give the canvas roof a good scrub as there is a lot of mould up there.

Au four & au Moulin Restaurant - Rawai Beach: Au four & au Moulin Restaurant - Rawai Beach

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 7, 2014

Well the 6 of us had high expectations for this place and sad to say we were extremely disappointed. We all ordered takeaway and most of the food was inedible and looked nothing like the photos on their menu. Everything was a soggy mess, pizza, bread roll, pastry's. The only thing worth eating was the dessert and the rest went to the cats from the hotel. Maybe the cook was sick this night but we will not go back again!

Terrible soggy pastry Photo says it all! Only thing worth eating! Worst pizza in Phuket Never again!

Oriental Spoon Twin Palms Brunch: Oriental Spoon Twin Palms Brunch

    by Cathy&Gary Written Dec 7, 2014

Oriental Spoon Grill and Bar is at Twinpalms Phuket Resort Surin. Their Sunday Brunch goes for 3 hours and it is delicious with free flow vodka for 1390++.

Everything you can think of is here including a good choice of cheeses. Lots of fresh seafood and a chocolate fountain which made me very happy. The only thing I did not enjoy was the roast lamb; I asked for a slice and received a very thick chunk that was still bleeding.

Lovely setting, great service and worth every baht.

    Sabai Corner: Sabai Corner

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Dec 7, 2014

Sabai Corner is a beautiful bar and restaurant that is just past Kata Noi and the Kata Viewpoint on the road down to Siam Beach. It has been our favorite place to visit for a few drinks and to relax since they opened a few years ago.

This is not your normal small bar found everywhere in Phuket. This place is huge, everything is quality here from the massive solid wood bar, to the beautiful animal carvings and reupholstered old tables and chairs. There are plants and flowers everywhere and subtle colored lighting at night, but what makes this place stand out are the sensational views.

Sabai Corner is surrounded on three sides by jungle and then in front of you are fantastic views of the ocean. It is a very quiet peaceful place and perfect to watch one of Phuket's stunning sunsets.
No expense has been spared here; even the separate men’s and women’s toilets are nice and spotlessly clean!

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch or dinner with a choice of Thai or Western meals and there is also wood fired pizza oven. The drink menu is extensive with many cocktails.

Sabai Corner is also the perfect place for a party, reception or wedding. So whether you visit for a meal or just to play some pool, Sabai Corner is perfect for all age groups.

Chaini can also organize transfers so give him a ring on +66848419794

Sabai Corner is about a 20 minute drive from Patong.

Sabai Beach Restaurant: Sabai Beach Restaurant

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Nov 30, 2014

Sabai Beach Restaurant has been a favorite of ours for 18 years. It is one of the original Patong beachfront restaurants and every year it just keeps on getting better. The food is fresh, delicious & very cheap.

Their drink menu is also very well priced and a lot cheaper than the majority of restaurants.

The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful, they will always remember you and even what you normally would order!

We have never had a meal here that we did not enjoy, breakfast, lunch or dinner the food is fantastic.

If you head north along the beach about 5 minutes walk past Bangla Rd there are 4 restaurants in a row along the beach front, Sabai is in the middle.

Horn Grill Steakhouse: Horn Grill Steakhouse

    by Cathy&Gary Updated Nov 30, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If we ever feel like a steak in Phuket we will always go to Horn Grill Steak House. It was and still is the best steak we have ever had in Thailand and is always cooked to perfection.

We have taken many friends and family there and everyone is impressed with the quality of food, service and prices.

The Horn Grill Steakhouse in Kata is separated into four different sections. There is a street level outside terrace, an inside Bistro area, a lovely Jazz dining room and our favorite, the outside patio area which looks very pretty at night with all the fairy lights.
